Why do UK visitor visa applications get refused, and how can you avoid it?

The most common mistakes:

1.Applying without understanding the purpose of visit.

You can visit the UK as a standard visitor for tourism; to See family or friends, volunteering for charity, for certain business activities and medical treatment etc.

It is vital that you should choose the right category of visit visa and provide the relevant evidence for the said category as required by law

2.Financial mistakes

The decision maker needs to be satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds to support themselves throughout of their UK visit.

Comen mistakes:
• Large and unexplained deposits in their bank account just before the application showing as their savings
• Not providing evidence to support their income and expense

What should be done

• The applicant should give the travel budget
• How the applicant will meet their travel costs
• Financial contribution from anyone else
• Breakdown of applicant’s income and expense
• Source of income, like salary or business
• Savings, if any, including source of savings

3. Weak evidence of returning home

One of the biggest concerns of the immigration officer is: “Will the applicant leave the UK at the end of their visit?

The evidence should include:

UK Visitor Visa Types: What you can and cannot do?

Before applying for visit visa, it’s important to understand which visitor visa route fits your purpose and which activities are permitted.

You can usually stay in the UK for up to 6 months. However, in certain circumstances, you might be able to extend your visa.

You can visit the UK as a Standard Visitor for:

1.Family Visit: to see your UK family and friends and to attend family events.

2.Tourism: for holidays and vacations.

3.Business: to undertake certain unpaid business activities, such as attending interviews, meetings, conferences, trade fairs, work-related training and negotiating contracts. You can Visit the UK for permitted paid engagements with certain conditions.

4.Study: Certain short courses, English language courses, research relevant to your course, placement if you are studying medicine and science, unpaid clinical attachment and exams and PLAB test.

5.Visit as an Academic: for scientists, researchers, and academics.

6.Medical Treatment: for private medical treatment and as an organ doner.

7.Chairty work: up to 30 days with a registered charity.

8. Marriage Visitor: to marry or to register a marriage or civil partnership.

What generally you CANNOT do as a visitor:
• get public funds.
• live in the UK through frequent or successive visits.
• switch to another visa.
• do activities paid or unpaid work (with exceptions).

Before applying
• Check that your intended activities are permitted under the relevant visitor route.
• Make sure you meet all applicable eligibilities.
• Check the latest immigration Rules as they change frequently.
