Reminders for those who want to make an impact at work, have fun, and avoid burnout:

🔸 Done beats perfect. Progress always wins.

🔸 Long hours aren’t worth losing your edge. Prioritise well-being, or you’ll burn out before you make your mark.

🔸 Lead from where you stand—titles don’t create influence, bold actions do.
🔸 You don’t need all the answers. Real leadership is about staying calm, clear, and confident while you learn.
🔸 Rest is productive. Recharge so you can make bold moves that leave a legacy.

🔸 Impact isn’t about doing more—it’s about making decisions that truly matter.

What would you add?

Two days at TED AI in Vienna: Mind. Blown. 🤯

I’m back home after an intense couple of days, catching up on how AI is reshaping our world. I’ve got pages of notes and ideas buzzing in my head, but without diving into the details, here are a few key takeaways:

1️⃣  “Your grandchildren will be the last generation to read and write.”

2️⃣ The technology to read minds? Already in university labs.

3️⃣ Improv rapper vs. ChatGPT showdown—your friendly robot is closer than you think.

4️⃣ The AI industry isn’t yet on top of its global water footprint, but smart folks like Shaolei Ren are making strides. 💧

5️⃣ AI in recruitment? So far, it’s a major fail in my book. 👎

AI is evolving faster than I thought – and more of us who are not in the AI field should be having these conversations.

That’s what Jamie, a senior leader who used to dread difficult discussions, told me.

He was overwhelmed just thinking about saying what needed to be said.
Sound familiar?

But here’s what we did to turn it around:

✅ Preparation: Planning every conversation to stay clear and focused.
✅ COIN Method: Staying on track and in control.
✅ Kindness over Niceness: Making the conversation productive, not just polite.

After practicing these strategies, Jamie transformed.

His confidence soared.

And the best part?

Before his most recent tough talk, he didn’t lose a single night of sleep—a huge win compared to the stress it once caused him.

I’ve documented the exact steps I use with clients to handle hard conversations. And I’m sharing it for free.

Attention is your most valuable resource.

Protect it!

We check our email 77 times a day? What???

No wonder stress levels are through the roof.

Imagine starting your day with a full tank of attention, only to see it deplete rapidly through distractions.

Here’s the truth: When we’re tired, our executive functions take a hit.

Stress mounts, productivity drops, and decision-making suffers.

So, how do you reclaim your attention and reduce stress?
1. Draw Down, Don’t Burn Out: Recognize when you’re running on empty. Pushing through won’t help.
2. Replenish: Take breaks that truly restore you. A walk in nature, a quiet moment away from screens – these simple activities work wonders.
3. Detach Psychologically: Disconnect means disconnect. Avoid email during breaks; it’s too risky. One stressful message can ruin your recharge time and drag you back into the chaos.

💡 Ask yourself: What will you do today to detach and protect your attention?

🚫 Your Guide to AVOIDING Hard Conversations

📌 Take the moral high ground
📌 Kick the conversation down the road
📌 Avoid the person altogether
📌 Minimize the issue
📌 Use humour to deflect
📌 Pass the buck

Ok, jokes aside….

You know avoiding tough conversations isn’t the solution.

But you lack the confidence on how to approach them.

You aren’t alone.

This is a common theme in my coaching sessions, so I’ve created a comprehensive Blueprint for Tough Conversations. This free guide will walk you through everything from how to prepare for the conversation to how to handle it with confidence.

Your boss has a huge impact on your happiness in your role.

Here’s 5 questions to ask in the interview process to spot if this person will be a great boss for you:

⚡️ How would your team describe your leadership style?
è Will uncover the degree of self-awareness this person has

⚡️ Share an experience of how you took on feedback from a team member, and what changes you made?
è Assesses their openness to feedback, and willingness to make changes

⚡️ Can you give me some examples of when you have supported the career growth of a team member?
è To understand how they invest in their team member’s development (Do they have strategies, and are they successful? )

⚡️ How do you delegate work?
è Attempt to uncover their levels of trust in their team

⚡️ What are the three most important things you need from the person in this role?
è Uncover expectations and see if they align with your values and skills

These questions are designed to reveal your boss’s values, so you can see if there are in align with yours.
