FYI ...

The National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage have both increased by over £1 this year. And the age threshold for the NLW has been lowered to include all workers aged 21 and over.

That's an increase of £2,300 a year as a full-time worker in this age group.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the WomenShine series event titled "Rising from the Ashes: Being an Entrepreneur in a Post-Covid World" at the Westmont Enterprise Hub, hosted by Alyshia Mangalji, Vice-President Europe & Africa at Westmont Hospitality.

The event took place at West London University and featured insightful discussions from successful women entrepreneurs. https://www.uwl.ac.uk/business/westmont-enterprise-hub

We heard from Jackie Fast, Managing Director, Sandbox Studios, Manju Mali, TV Chef, Author & a cookery teacher with a Queen's Honour of a BEM and Nadezdha Robinson, CEO, WyldHerbs.

Each woman offered their diverse perspective and experiences of the entrepreneurial space.

My key take aways were:
💎 Jackie spoke about GRIT – not just dogged determination, but true passion which unlocks the grit required to succeed as a business leader. She says, in her book, “It is passion that gets me out of bed each morning. It is passion that gives me the grit I need to persevere for the long term and pave my own path.”

💎 Manju spoke about AUTHENTICITY – about knowing yourself and how to stay faithful to yourself, your community and your business.

💎 Nadezdha spoke about COMMUNITY – about tapping into your already existing network of family and friends, and local community; and finding opportunity there for funding.

🎵 Tis' the season to be jolly, or is it? 🎵

Hold on tight, because here's a shocking truth: 1 in 5 families in the UK are affected by estrangement. Yes, you heard it right! Over 5 million people have made the tough decision to cut ties with a family member. 🚫🤝
