What a wonderful Jav{HER}Script event it was last night!! ✨💻 Female.js Softwire

Each speaker had such a unique and powerful story to share and it was great to meet people in person that I’ve been speaking to for so long, as well as completely new faces! My favourite part of it all is seeing other people make new connections ✨✨

Organising and hosting events are always a bit of a journey to say the least, but always more than worth it every time!!

Shout out to the incredible speakers Melinda Seckington Karen Lee Rigg & Emma Hopkinson-Spark who shared their unique journeys & perspectives as women in tech, tools and practices to ensure your always improving & statistics on where we are at as industry.

Whilst each speaker has gone down their own unique path to get to where they currently are, there were many commonalities that we can all relate to and learn from 🙏.

Key takeaways:
⭐ Proactively seeking and creating opportunities for yourself and fearlessly grasping them
⭐ Taking responsibility for your success and not attributing it to luck - “the harder you work the luckier you get”
⭐ Possessing unwavering determination and responding to “you can’t” with “watch me”
⭐ Thriving because of challenges not in spite of them
⭐ Turning obstacles & challenges into your greatest strengths
⭐ Allocate time to introspection and reflection to ensure your always improving

😲50% of women who get into tech leave before the age of 35.
🤯It’ll take 283 years before women make up an equal share of the tech industry.

Yep, the statistics are not great! Creating a community where women can form new connections with other women in the industry, share experiences and challenges, and see examples of women who have defied the odds and made a name for themselves in tech leadership is invaluable to creating a more diverse and inclusive space in the tech industry at large!
