LMK (Let Me Know) is a new start up charity but growing rapidly and doing amazing things for young people, educating them about abuse in relationships and signs to look out for- early intervention, prevention is their focus. Would you be so kind to share with your networks please? You can read all about their SEND (special educational needs and disability) campaign below. It’s completely new and unprecedented. No one else is offering education on abuse prevention to SEND young people so it’s a very niche and much needed programme that will appeal to many.
LMK is launching it's first big fundraising campaign this week to coincide with neurodiversity week: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/SENDYOUTHWORKER
Why is this campaign so urgent? If you are disabled, you are twice as likely to experience domestic abuse, r**e and sexual assault, twice as likely to be living with the perpetrator and almost four times as likely to experience abuse from multiple people. SEND young people are more likely to become victims of grooming, mate crime and cuckooing and wait on average a year longer before trying to get help to escape their situation.
LMK is trying to raise £26,000 to help deliver the 10 Signs programme to 1000 Special Education Need and Disability children (SEND) over the next 3 years. Funds will help LMK adapt its programme and resources, hire specialist youth workers and pay for our life-saving workshops.
Please share and donate with your networks!
Thanks 🙏
