"I love social work but I can't keep doing it like this."

If you've ever felt this, you're not alone. And you're not broken.

You're at a crossroads that many of us face but rarely talk about openly. The place where passion meets exhaustion. Where purpose bumps up against unsustainable practice.

Here's what I wish someone had told me earlier: You don't have to choose between loving your work and protecting your wellbeing. You can have both.

The shift starts with getting honest about what's actually draining you. Is it the work itself? The way you're doing it? The environment you're in? The boundaries you haven't set?

Most of the time, it's not the children and families. It's everything else around the edges that's suffocating the joy.

You can stay in social work AND make it sustainable. But first, you need to get clear on what needs to change.

Comment SHIFT and ill send you some information to work out how you can continue to do social work on your terms!

What if those uncomfortable career questions aren't your weakness showing, but your wisdom speaking?

I used to think questioning my career meant I was failing at it.

Turns out, the opposite was true.

When you start asking yourself whether you're in the right place, it's not weakness speaking. It's wisdom. Your inner compass telling you something needs attention.

The uncomfortable truth? Most of us were never taught that careers can evolve. That you can love social work AND need it to look different. That wanting change doesn't make you ungrateful or uncommitted.

It makes you human.

The questions that feel scary to ask are usually the ones that lead to breakthrough. Don't silence them. Listen to what they're trying to tell you about what you actually need.

Change doesn't always mean leaving. Sometimes it means staying and doing the work differently.

The most powerful changes in social work don't happen in isolation — they happen in community.

Hey Lovely, I need to share something with you. After years of coaching social workers and facilitating excellence through training, I've learned that the most powerful transformations happen in community.

Not the kind where we just vent about how hard everything is (though there's space for that too). The kind where we hold each other accountable for growth. Where we celebrate small wins and support each other through the messy middle of change.

The SAVI Village is that community. The community is for social workers ready to move from overwhelm to intentional practice. Ready to discover their strengths, set boundaries that stick, and design careers (and lives)they can actually sustain.

Because when social workers flourish, everyone benefits - you, your families, the people you serve, and the profession itself.

The question isn't whether you deserve support. You absolutely do. The question is: are you ready to receive it?

Three things I'm weaving into every SAVI module because you deserve nothing less:

Your lived experience matters more than any textbook theory.
Your struggles don't make you weak - they make you human.
Your future in social work can look completely different to your past.

I'm building something that honours where you've been whilst supporting where you're going. Something that says "you're not broken, the system is challenging" and then shows you how to thrive within it anyway.

Because you didn't become a social worker to survive. You came to make a difference.

And you still can. On your terms.

Are you running towards something better, or just running away from what's hard right now?

Sometimes staying feels harder than leaving. But what if the real change you need isn't about walking away from social work completely?

Five questions shifted things for me:

Am I running towards something or just running away?
What would I miss most if I left tomorrow?
Which parts of my role actually drain me vs energise me?
What would need to change for me to love this work again?
If I designed my ideal social work life, what would it look like?

These questions helped me realise I didn't need to abandon social work. I needed to do it differently. On my terms. With boundaries that actually worked.

The SAVI shift isn't about leaving your profession behind. It's about redesigning your life and how you show up within it.

Your calling doesn't have to cost you everything.

You know those 3am thoughts that hit when you can't sleep?

"Am I actually making a difference or just moving cases around?"

"What if I miss something important and a child gets hurt?"

"Everyone else seems to have it together... why do I feel like I'm drowning?"

"Maybe I'm not cut out for this work."

"I used to care more... does that make me a bad social worker?"

Here's what I want you to know: these thoughts don't make you weak, unprofessional, or unsuited to social work. They make you human.

The 3am doubt spiral is where burnout lives, where imposter syndrome thrives, and where we convince ourselves we're failing.

But what if those late-night questions are actually your inner wisdom trying to tell you something important about how you're working, not whether you should be working?

You don't have to carry these thoughts alone. They deserve space, reflection, and honest conversation.

Because the social workers who ask these hard questions? They're often the ones who care the most.

HAPPY SOCIAL WORK MONTH

This Social Work Month, we’re making a shift.

From cope alone to Harambee — all pull together.

For too long, social workers have been asked to be resilient in isolation.

To manage.
To absorb.
To “just get on with it.”

But coping alone was never the goal.
And it was never sustainable.

Harambee is a reminder that we were not designed to do this work — or this life — alone.

It speaks to collective care.
Shared responsibility.
Moving consciously and compassionately — together.

This month isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about remembering that community is protective.

That reflection is resistance.
That rest is radical.
That support is strength.

As Social Work Month begins, ask yourself:

Where am I still coping alone —
when I could be pulling together?

💬 Comment HARAMBEE if you’re choosing connection over isolation this month.

📘 And if you want language, tools, and community to support that shift, comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link.

Module 1 of the SAVI Method starts exactly where you are now - not where you think you should be.

Behind the scenes right now: I'm designing the SAVI Method modules and honestly, my heart is so full thinking about what this will mean for you.

Each module is being crafted around real conversations I've had with social workers like you - the late-night doubts, the "am I good enough?" questions, the dreams you've tucked away because work feels too overwhelming.

Module 1 starts exactly where you are now. Not where you think you should be. Where you actually are.

Because transformation isn't about fixing yourself. It's about remembering who you are beneath all the pressure and reconnecting with why you chose this work in the first place.

What would change for you if you truly believed you could do social work on your terms?

The SAVI Village opens in 2 days for social workers ready to shift from survival mode to sustainable practice - here's what that actually means.

You know that feeling when you're constantly giving but feel empty inside? When you love this work but wonder if you can keep doing it without losing yourself?

What if there was a place where those feelings weren't signs of failure but starting points for transformation?

The SAVI Village opens on Sunday - The beginning of Social Work Month - a community built for social workers who are ready to do this work differently. Not by changing who you are, but by discovering who you've always been beneath the professional pressure.

Here, we practice being human first, professional second. We explore what sustainable really means for you. And we design careers that honour both your values and your wellbeing.

Your journey from survival to sustainable practice starts with one decision - to value yourself as much as you value those you serve.
