The 1972 Olympic Games were an opportunity to showcase a positivity that had returned to West Germany for the first time since World War 2. The ‘cheerful games’ were to be Germany’s reawakening on the world stage. Commissioned to design the official poster; David Hockney drew upon his time in California and his much-praised Swimming Pool series. The work reflects this positivity with its dazzling, sun-drenched diver plunging into an impossible blue pool.

The 20th Montreux Jazz Festival called for a very special poster. Pierre Keller brought together Keith Haring and Andy Warhol to create a vibrant red and yellow work. A series of musical staves interspersed with dancing figures resembling musical notes are at the centre of the work.
The stellar line up for the 20th Festival included amongst others.
