A clinical psychologist based at one of our locations, The Grange, was interviewed about her practice recently.
Dr Katja Windheim has been with us for a few years, and UK Therapy Rooms have written a piece on how her setup has changed in that time.
Her room has barely changed.
What's around it has.
We took on the old Job Centre next door and turned it into more offices, put a staffed reception and waiting area in, and made the meeting rooms bookable.
On the people around her: "Private practice can feel isolating at times, unless you practise within a larger practice. Having the business community around makes it feel less isolating on a day-to-day basis."
On the reception: she used to give clients detailed directions and ask them not to turn up early, because there was nowhere inside for them to sit. "Now I can just tell them to make their way to reception, which is signposted in large letters, and pick them up for their session time."
On the meeting rooms: her own office takes three people at most, so when the work goes beyond one-to-one sessions, she books something bigger.
None of it is dramatic. It's just the stuff that makes a working day easier.
