✨✨✨ *SURAH AT TAKWIR*✨✨✨

✨✨ *THE OVERTHROWING*✨✨✨

🔸 *Period of Revelation:* Makkan

🔸 *Order of Revelation:* 7

🔸 *Verses* - 29

🔸The Prophet S.A.W said "Whoever wishes to look at the Day of Judgement as if he is seeing it with his own eyes, then let him read, At-Takwir, Al-Infitar and Al-Inshiqaaq".

🔸Our survival in this world depends on so many factors yet we rarely show our gratitude. The simple things like the shining sun, the twinkling stars or the air we breathe are taken for granted . The cycle of life continues and so does our dependence on innumerable external factors which we falsely consider to be eternal.

🔸Getting engrossed in the world hinders us contemplating and pondering over the blessings of nature and thus we move further and further away from our Creator. We seem to be totally ignorant of the fact that the biggest connection between Him and us is the miracle of creation... and if we are too busy to even look at these things then how will we remember Him or be grateful to Him? Thus in Surah At-Takwir Allah is giving us a warning that the world is going to end one day .

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 1:*_
_*When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]*_

🔸Shams - Sun

🔸Kuwwirat is : To fold something and roll up like a turban. Refers to the sun when it will be stripped off it's light.

🔸In these verses Allah swt describes in detail the horrifying things that will occur on the Day of Judgment.

🌿🌻 *DISPERSING THE STARS* 🌻🌿

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 2:*_
_*And when the stars fall, dispersing*_

🔸Inkidar - to lose its colour, brightness and splendour.

🔸Najm - Stars

🌿🌻 *MOVING OF THE MOUNTAINS, ABANDONING OF THE PREGNANT SHE-CAMELS, AND THE GATHERING OF THE WILD BEASTS*🌻🌿

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 3:*_
_*And when the mountains are removed*_

🔸The mountains will not remain in their places and shall be blown away, destroyed. Earth will be left as a flat and a levelled plain.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 4:*_
_*And when full-term she-camels are neglected*_

🔸ushaarah (plural ishaar) - ash'ara- Ten

🔸uttilat - (attala) not be taken care of/ neglected .

🔸 A full term she camel was considered an asset and a status symbol for the Arabs. On the Day of Judgement, even this precious camel will be neglected and the people will be only bothered about their own selves.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 5:*_
_*And when the wild beasts are gathered.*_

🔸Wahsh – an animal that does not have affection for others animals.

🔸Hashr – to gather/herd animals.

🔸Even the animals will be gathered on the Day of Judgement so justice would be established ; even the flies.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 6:*_
_*And when the seas are filled with flame.*_

🔸Bihar - plural of Bahar. All of the oceans will overflow crossing all the barriers and will become one huge water body.

🔸It is human nature to take things for granted and only realize its value when lost .

🔸Our life; health is not considered a blessing of Allah swt till an illness/ accident befalls . It is at this time we turn to Allah swt and beg for another chance.

🔸 In this verse Allah swt is warning mankind to make use of the time given in this world.

🌿🌻 *JOINING THE SOULS*🌻🌿

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 7:*_
_*And when the souls are paired.*_

🔸nafs - soul.

🔸nufoos - plural of nafs

🔸zuwijat - pair some things together.

🔸 Each person will be joined with his deeds , and gathered along with the people who performed the same deeds. (This is because Allah swt says,
"And you (all) will be in groups. So those on the Right Hand And those on the Left Hand."

🌿🌻 *QUESTIONING THE FEMALE INFANT WHO WAS BURIED ALIVE*🌻🌿

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 8:*_
_*And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked.*_

🔸maw'uda - to bury someone alive.

🔸Al-Maw'udah is a female infant. Some of the Arabs would bury their daughters alive . On the Day of Judgement, Allah swt will ask the female infant for what sin was she murdered?.
And not the one who buried her, as Allah swt will not speak to the criminals on that day.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 9:*_
_*For what sin she was killed.*_

🔸dhanb - smallest, minutest things which are sins.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 10:*_
_*And when the pages are made public.*_

🔸Everyone will be given their scroll of deeds either in their right hand or left hand.''

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 11:*_
_*And when the sky is stripped off.*_

🔸Sa'ma - sky

🔸Kush*tat - Stripped away.

🌿🌻 *KINDLING HELLFIRE AND PARADISE BEING BROUGHT NEAR.*🌻🌿

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 12:*_
_*And when Hellfire is set ablaze*_

🔸Jahanam - Hell

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 13:*_
_*And when Paradise is brought near,*_

🔸uzlifat - brought near.

🔸Allah will honour the believers by bringing Jannah close to them so that they can enter it quickly.

🔸Allah swt will honour them because of the hardships they went through for gaining Jannah.

🌿🌿 _*AYAH 14:*_
_*A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].*_

🔸Allah swt says,
"On the Day when every person will be confronted with all the good he has done, and all the evil he has done, he will wish for a great distance between him and his evil. " (3:30)

🔸On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward, and what he left behind. (75:13)

🔸Each and every thought, word and action is being recorded by the angels without even missing the minutest of details. Most of the time, because of our callous behaviour we tend to forget that our deeds are being constantly monitored and we disobey Allah swt which neutralizes all our good deeds.

🔸Solution to this careless attitude is to get closer to the Quran and implement it's commands in our lives.

🌻🌿 *ACTION POINTS:*🌿🌻

✨ Be grateful to Allah swt.

✨ To be mindful of the fact that our deeds are being recorded by the angels.

AR RABB

Allah calls Himself Ar-Rabb— The Lord, the Master— on more than 900 occasions in the Quran.

Ar-Rabb is the only one who truly takes care of the whole creation, nourishing it in the most perfect way.

He is the one who created us, who sustains us, who fosters and regulates all beings from the earliest state to that of the highest perfection!

The Lord, the Master, the Creator and Nurturer
Rabb comes from the root raa-baa-baa, which points to three main meanings.

The first main meaning is to be lord, owner, or master.

The second main meaning is to take care of, nourish, sustain, and provide for,

and the third is to raise or bring up.

This root appears 980 times in the Quran in four derived forms.

Examples of these forms are rabbee (“my Lord”), al rabaaniyoona (“the Rabbis”), and ribbiyyoona (“religious scholars”).

Linguistically, Rabb is a term used for the owner (maalik), the master (as-sayyid), the one who takes care of, sustains, nourishes (al-qayyoom), and provides or takes care of everything (ar-razzaaq). [Lisan al-Arab by ibn Mandhoor].

The word tarbiyyah is also derived from the same root, and it means to take care of.

It is often used to indicate how we bring up and nurture our children.

Rabb is also used with an adjective to refer to people, indicating the “master” or the one who is obeyed, for example rabb ud daar— the master of the house.

Only Allah is Ar-Rabb; He is the true and complete owner of everything in existence and the only one who takes care, nourishes, and fosters everything that exists through every stage of existence.

Ar-Rabb Himself says: . . .

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds [Quran, 1:2] . . .

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority . . . [Quran, 2:30] and . . .

At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication. [Quran, 3:38]

The Tawheed of Lordship
One of the types of tawheed a true Muslim should believe in and live by is tawheed ar-ruboobiyyah, the Oneness of Allah’s Lordship.

This means that you affirm Allah is one and unique in His actions.

Examples are creation, controlling affairs, provision, giving life and death, and sending down rain.

It is firmly believing that only Allah nourishes and sustains and that no other being can do the things Allah ‘azza wa jall does.

For example the Mushrikeen among whom the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was sent did not disagree with this type of tawheed; they affirmed it in general terms.

Allah Ar-Rabb says:

And indeed if you ask them: Who has created the heavens and the earth?

They will surely say: The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them. [Quran, 43:9]

However they did not affirm tawheed of worship and divinity (tawheed ul uloohiyyah), and worshipped idols.

Only affirming the Lordship of Allah is not sufficient for someone to be a true Muslim; you must also affirm what is implied by this— the oneness of the divinity of Allah— and thus devote your worship to Allah alone!

How Can You Live By This Name?

1. Feel it when you say “Rabb-il-‘Alameen.”
In your five prayers, you recite surah Al-Fatiha seventeen times a day, and which ayah do you recite as part of this opening surah?

Alhamdulillahi Rabb-il-‘Alameen– All praise and thanks are to the Lord of the Worlds.

Next time you say this, feel the greatness of your Rabb and imagine He is not only the Rabb of the world of humans, but also the Rabb of the angels, jinns, and all the galaxies, and He takes care of everything in existence 24/7.

Let this increase your love, fear and hope in Him each time you say
“Rabb-il-‘Alameen!”

Did you also notice that in each prayer, in each rukoo’, you say ‘subhana rabbiyal-‘adheem’ and in each sujood ‘subhana rabbiyal-‘alaa’?

Each time you say these beautiful phrases of remembrance, truly remember that Allah is your Rabb.

Each prayer is filled with this beautiful name!

2. Live by tawheed ar-ruboobiyyah.

Realize what tawheed ur-ruboobiyyah means in your daily life and really live by the fact only Allah is your Lord, Provider, and Sustainer.

How many times do we turn to other people instead of Allah for our needs, when we have to make certain decisions?

So when you or others are in ill health or afraid to sacrifice in the path of Allah, know that only Ar-Rabb can give life and death.

When you are worried and distressed, know that only Ar-Rabb can bring benefit and ward off harm, and when you need something, know that only He answers prayers.

3. Use the “Rabbanaa” supplications from the Quran.

The most comprehensive and beautiful supplications can be found in the Quran and Sunnah, made by the prophets, messengers and pious before us.

In the Quran you can find a selection of supplications starting with Rabbanaa, our Lord, or Rabbee, my Lord.

Use them in your daily life and memorize these Quranic dua which cover a wide range of topics.

A beautiful example is the supplication to make for the parents:

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say,

“My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”
[Quran, 17:24]

4. Trust in your Lord.

Know that Ar-Rabb takes care of you in all situations and trust in all His actions because they are good for you.

Take inspiration from this beautiful ayah:

[Moses] said, “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me. [Quran, 26:62]
Wallahu ta’alaa ‘alem.

O Allah, Ar-Rabb, we know that You are our Lord, Master and Sustainer. Adorn us with a firm belief in and acting upon the Oneness of Your Lordship and aid us to call upon You in the best ways, described in Your Book and the sunnah of the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
Beautify us with trust in You and contentment with all of Your actions, ameen!

Ta Ha 20:8

☝🏻 Allah – there is no deity except Him.

To Him belong the best names.

Al-Isra' 17:110

Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful [ar-Rahman].

Whichever [name] you call – to Him belong the best names."

And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.

Al-A'raf 7:180

And to Allah belong the best names,

so invoke Him by them.

And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names.

They will be recompensed for what they have been doing.

📖 Chapter: Allah has one hundred Names less One

📗 Sahih al-Bukhari 7392

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said,

"Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise."

To count something means to know it by heart.

📚 Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 7392
In-book reference : Book 97, Hadith 21
USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 489
(deprecated numbering scheme)

☝🏻 The name Allaah refers to the One Who is adored and worshipped,

the One Who possesses the attributes of divinity and to whom all His creation is enslaved.

The attributes of divinity with which He describes Himself are the attributes of perfection.
