Last week our Founder and CEO Samantha Stimpson FRSA was invited to be a guest lecturer for the MMusEd students at Royal College of Music. The programme is aimed at composers and performers who want to develop their careers in education alongside music. 🎼

It was great to see the students engaging so fully with the workshop. The students also shared their insights into the changes being made to the guidance on programming for recitals, which was really interesting. 🥰

Over the last 3 years, the Director of Programmes, Diana Salazar, has committed to putting changes in place around selection of repertoire to ensure greater representation. There are now specific requirements to include a work by an underrepresented composer in recitals, as well as in all chamber music exams. This has seen a true change in the variety of music performed by students. 🙌

We had an amazing two days at the Music & Drama Education Expo last week🚀🥳. It was our first time having a stand at the expo and we loved it so much, we will certainly be back next year!

Our Founder and CEO Samantha Stimpson FRSA, delivered two very popular sessions and it was great to have people speak to us afterwards. There was a lot of energy in the room and we are looking forward to continuing these rich and fruitful conversations with our peers.

Her session "Leading with Creativity: Inclusive Strategies for Music Educators" on Day 1 (Thursday 30th January) is about exploring practical strategies for delivering a Music curriculum that celebrates , encourages student creativity, and addresses barriers to .

As part of the session, you will also discover the I.D.E.A.L Network, a groundbreaking space to deepen your understanding, share resources, and connect with like-minded aspiring leaders dedicated to creating inclusive cultures in the .

On Day 2, Sam will be reuniting with industry leaders Roger Wilson of Black Lives in Music, Luqman Ali, and Jeremy Haneman to talk about "Breaking The Singing Barrier: Cultural Barriers To Singing". They spoke about this very topic last year in a webinar series for Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) Trust.

Join their discussion on cultural barriers to singing in schools, covering religion, family attitudes, cultural legacy of singing and own experience of music education (or not!), navigating different cultural and social expectations, and practitioner fear of offending. They aim to expand your awareness, deepen your engagement and provoke further thinking.

I.D.E.A.L and we're off!! 🚀😁

We have wrapped up the first session of the I.D.E.A.L Network - Academy and we have started with a bang! Thank you to all the amazing humans who came, listened, engaged and showed up! Our Founder and CEO Sam Stimpson has wanted to create this space for a long time and we are so happy that we have launched. 🙌🏾

This network was born out of the Emerge To Thrive Course with Mark, and it was very clear that there needed to be a bit more of it: more space to learn, to grow, to connect. Especially with a higher emphasis on inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (I.D.E.A).

If you weren't able to attend, don't worry. The Network is evergreen so you can join us at any time!
