Afghanistan is heading for catastrophe this winter. More than 8 million people are on the brink of famine. A million under-fives are at risk of dying in just the next three months. Economic collapse, the change in government and the worst drought in 3 decades have tipped the country over the edge. Its health system is on its knees, despite the brave efforts of medical staff. Mothers and fathers desperate to feed their own children simply can’t, many having lost their jobs. The UN has described it as the ‘worst humanitarian crisis on earth’.
We must not abandon Afghanistan’s people, especially the youngest and most vulnerable. It’s been a tough year for everyone but if you can, please consider donating to - a partnership of leading humanitarian charities and their partners on the ground providing emergency nutrition to children, supporting healthcare facilities and providing winter kits to help displaced families stay warm.
