Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they can be startups too 🦸

Today’s touching and inspiring startup success story starts with a unique friendship between a homeless man and CEO Alex Stephany and how this special connection led to BEAM, the world’s first crowdfunding platform for homeless people. Stephany developed the rapport with the homeless man at his local tube station.

As time progressed Alex became determined to find ways to help the man leave rough sleeping for good. Eventually Alex came up with the idea to crowdfund for homeless people and teamed up with homeless charity worker Seb Barker.

Beam claims to be the most efficient way to donate money to UK homelessness, with 100% of donations going directly to beneficiaries. With a whopping 76% of Beam's trained job seekers moving into paid employment. Beam has reached two million in crowdfunded donations and was listed on Start ups 100.
