Hank Hank gives Dads practical support and advice to help them be the best Dad they can be. Some events and sessions we put on are free; others are a few quid.

We help Dads to:

1) Learn life skills.
2) Meet like-minded Dads.
3) Plan for the future. How We Do It

We arrange events and online sessions for fathers to kick back and enjoy. But all are relevant, interesting and are attended by like-minded fathers (and fathers-to-be) in need of a break or a few tips from the experts. We put on enjoyable, father-friendly activities in lively atmospheres thatโ€™ll

keep you engaged before the lack of sleep catches up. Some events are based around practical and parental topics, like coping with the challenges of a newborn and financial planning. But, thereโ€™s a range of others that focus on stuff away from kids, like beer and wine tasting, cooking and getting fit. We join forces with industry experts to deliver our online sessions, which last about 45 minutes each and are packed with loads of practical advice and a Q+A session at the end. These sessions cover a wide range of important topics like finance, child psychology and education. Why We Do It

If you're a new or expectant dad, you might be spending your time doing what we did:

1) Frantically Googling everything about childbirth and babies
2) Nervously attending parent classes with your partner
3) Proudly assembling flat-pack furniture long into the night

Everything else sort of blurs into one, 'til you find yourself pouring wine on your Weetabix as the lack of sleep catches up with you. Sometimes, the challenge of trying to be the best father to your children, husband to your wife and working full time can take its toll. We understand that challenge and want to provide a service that helps to prepare dads for what's ahead. So get in touch and let Hank help you be the best father you can be.

Ever wondered when the right age to start swimming lessons is?

Michael Phelps's parents would say 7 years old (yes, he really did only learn to swim aged 7). But if you ask the internet, studies show that children who start swimming from 2 years old learn basic skills quicker than those who begin at the age of 4.

So, when is the right age to introduce your kids to swimming?

We took a deep dive into the topic, so you don't have to! Swipe through to find out more ๐Ÿ‘‰

When did you send or when do you plan to send your kids to swimming lessons?

Thereโ€™s no question that physical activity is extremely important for kids. However, as parents, it can be really challenging to know how hard to push kids to get involved, especially when they don't want to.

Pushing kids into sports can have really positive results, such as;

โšฝ๏ธ Building confidence
โšฝ๏ธ Learn social skills, teamwork and discipline
โšฝ๏ธ Establish longer term healthy lifestyle habits
โšฝ๏ธ Teaches valuable skills like resilience and time management.

However, excessive pressure could lead to burnout, stress, or a loss of interest.

So, how do you strike a balance between encouraging kids to play sports (even if they say they don't like it) and allowing children to discover their passions organically?

Should parents prioritise their child's enjoyment and well-being over pushing for success?

Proper nutrients, such as essential vitamins, minerals, and proteins, support the formation of strong bones, a robust immune system, and cognitive functions. Therefore, it is only natural that parents would worry that their child is not receiving the necessary amount of nutrients from pre packaged baby food.

We caught up with Catherine Lippe (), childrenโ€™s nutritionist and weaning expert to ask her all about the do's and don'ts of weaning.

After-school clubs can significantly benefit children by providing a structured environment for social, academic, and extracurricular growth.

Schools and youth clubs often offer a wide range of activities, from sports to arts, all of which encourage teamwork, creativity, and skill development.

The question is, how many is too many?

Clubs allow children to explore their interests beyond the classroom, promoting a more holistic approach to education. However, moderation is key to avoid overwhelming children with too many activities. Children also need to have adequate time for rest and relaxation during the week in order to recharge and ensure they make the most out of their school hours.

How many after school clubs do your children take part in?

Establishing a routine during winter is crucial for both parents and children as it provides a sense of stability and comfort amidst the season's challenges.

For parents, a consistent routine helps manage the additional responsibilities that winter often brings, such as shortened days (that are often very wet!) dealing with weather-related disruptions and maintaining work-life balance.

Children benefit from routines as they can be comforting during the colder, darker months. A structured routine help with sleep patterns and supporting healthy habits which contributes to their overall well-being during the winter season.

At Hank we had a look into which habits you could include in your daily routine to make the next few months a little less dreary.

Weaning a child onto solid foods presents parents with various challenges, including navigating the introduction of new textures and flavors, addressing potential allergies or sensitivities, and managing the child's acceptance of different foods.

To help parents understand the importance of weaning children onto solids, we caught up with Catherine Lippe ( on Instagram), childrenโ€™s nutritionist and weaning expert to ask her all about the do's and don'ts of weaning.

A well-balanced packed lunch for kids is crucial for sustaining their energy levels throughout the day and preventing afternoon crashes.

A nutritious meal provides the necessary fuel for both physical and mental activities, supporting concentration and learning in school. Including a mix of complex carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, and a variety of fruits and vegetables helps regulate blood sugar levels, promoting steady energy release.

A thoughtfully prepared lunch not only contributes to a child's immediate well-being but also establishes healthy eating habits that can have long-term benefits for their overall health and development.

Returning to school after a break can be a challenging transition for both children and parents, often accompanied by a case of the 'back-to-school blues'.

We took a deep dive into the topic and have listed our favourite tips and tricks below ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœ๏ธ Positive anticipation
Talk to your child about the exciting aspects of returning to school, like reuniting with friends or their favourite subjects.
Organising small gatherings or playdates with classmates before school starts is a great way of breaking the ice before term!

โœ๏ธ Routine
Creating a routine a few days before the school year begins will help transition from holiday mode to school mode.
Consistency in daily activities, such as bedtimes, can provide a sense of security and reduce anxiety.

โœ๏ธ Allow Emotions
Normalise the feelings they might be experiencing, such as excitement and apprehension, and urge them to communicate any concerns or worries openly. By promoting an atmosphere of understanding and open communication, you create a space to address worries and make the return to school a lot more emotionally navigable.
