What are some businesses you can start if you don't have a large sum of money?
Here are two ideas you need absolutely no money to begin with:
- A cleaning business (you can ask clients to provide the cleaning products and all you have to pay for is your travel)
- A nanny/babysitting service (If you have experience in childcare or find a family that are happy enough to take you on without the relevant experience, you can earn quite a decent salary. Again, you'd only have to pay for your travel costs)
Have a little cash?
- An events business. Could you see yourself entertaining children or decorating events? (You'd be surprised at how affordable it is to start one. Customers pay for the hire of your material, so you'd get the money you spent back the more business you acquire)
- A childminding service from home. When my children were young, I couldn't afford childcare, so I couldn't work. Universal credits asks you to pay upfront and once you can prove you've paid, you get your money back. This left me stuck as I couldn't afford £1,500 upfront for nursery fees. A started childminding from my own home. My kids made friends and I was able to work my own hours and spend that time with them.
