We are back with our Friday Folklore! 👻 On our recent trip to Scotland, we stayed in the quaint and mystical coastal town of Crail. ⚓️ We popped into the museum and got chatting away with the women working there, who both have a long connection to Crail. They said you must go find the Devil’s Blue Stane, also known as the Blue Stone of Crail. A stone quest? Count us in! 😈 So off we went with some leaflets and merch from the shop (naturally). We got a little lost before our mum pointed to the stone situated right outside the cemetery. But where did this unique treasure get its name and how did it become the centre of Crail folklore?
One popular tale says the Devil was angry at the people of Crail for being boring, dull and too “well behaved” so he attempted to destroy the “boring” town by throwing a huge rock at it! Luckily, his aim was lacking, and the stone ended up on the coast instead. 🪨
Another story involves a local who had a run-in with the Devil. The Devil challenged him to a strength contest, but somehow the Crail native outsmarted the Devil. Frustrated, the Devil threw the stone in a fit.
Some people also believe the stone was put there to protect Crail from evil spirits and bad vibes, keeping the Devil at bay. Alternatively and less folkloric, the stone may have been used as a navigation tool for sailors to find their way.

Spring is here 🌸 Ostara, also known as the Spring Equinox arrives on Wednesday! It’s a pagan festival that celebrates the balance of day and night. It is one of the eight Sabbats in the wheel of the year, marking the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Summer Solstice.

In today’s episode, we explore the goddess Eostre, why eggs are main character energy, and Ostara celebrations.

Happy Samhain from our crypt to yours 🕸

Today the shadows come to the surface and we must tend to them delicately. Darkness is a friend, if we respectfully pull out a seat at the table.

We’ll be following our tradition and getting together with our Coven this evening. Last year we held a Silent Supper, which featured in episode 11 (Through the veil) in the series ‘Witch’ that I co-produced with an incredible team. This year my colleague and now good friend held her own Silent Supper which you can read about in the ✨ You might even be inspired to throw your own!

However you're celebrating I hope the deep waters of this time come hand in hand with comfort and transformations 🦇

We are back! We couldn’t resist giving you a special Friday 13th episode before Season 3 launches on the 23rd. We’ll then be releasing episodes bi weekly 👻

Un-Loki for some? It is said that if 13 people sit at a table, then one of them must die within a year and fear of the number 13 is widespread in Western superstition. But how did the number and Friday become such an infamous collab? Whack on your Jason Voorhees hockey mask as we explore Loki’s gatecrash into the Valhala private feast, the 13th guest at “The Last Supper” and the real-life phobia of 1 and 3 adjacent.

We recently visited family in Cambridgeshire and drove to a village nearby called Holywell to go wild water swimming & kayaking 🛶 It is a Saxon ring village, one of only 3 in Cambridgeshire. The holy water well pictured in the first image is where the village takes its name from and is located in front of the church which dates back to the 14th Century. The well has been refurbished many times over the years. Every June, a well dressing ceremony takes place where children from the local primary school create floral garlands to decorate the well. A short walk away is The Old Ferry Boat Inn, the village’s large and popular pub. Legend has it, that a young girl named Juliet took her own life near the church in the time of Edward the Confessor. She had fallen in love with the local woodcutter who had rejected her cruelly. It is said the pub was built on top of her grave - there is also stone slab found within the pub. In the 1950s a seance was conducted with participants claiming to have spoken to Juliet’s spirit. On the anniversary of her death, 17th March (St Patrick’s Day) her ghost is said to appear by the river bank, this has been observed by a number of paranormal groups every March 17th. Juliet’s gravestone is preserved inside the pub, and anyone to walk on it accidentally must buy a round of drinks for all! We had a wonderful day kayaking & wild water swimming in Holywell, we highly recommend a visit - let us know if you catch a glimpse of Juliet! 👻
