Festive wishes from our team to yours!

2025 has been a big year for Rocket Science.

We've partnered with clients across the country on a wide range of powerful and positive projects that further our mission to tackle inequalities across the UK. In doing so our small but mighty team has helped to make a real impact in the organisations and communities we've worked with.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been part of our year. Whether you've worked with us on a project, engaged with us on social media sharing our work with your network, attended one of our events, or been part of our journey in some other way, we're grateful to share this journey with you.

This year we started a monthly practice where our team gets together to share moments of joy and doing so has brought real joy to all of us.

Wishing you all the very best for a joyful festive season, whatever that looks like for you.

Caroline and team Rocket Science

If you’re looking for something to read that is a bit more stimulating than the jokes that fell out of the crackers at your work Christmas party, check out our blog archive.

We post regular updates on our work and events. This year we’ve written about AI, destigmatising mental health, our new JEDI collective, as well as on themes of housing, poverty and violence against women and girls.

You can read them all here: https://rocketsciencelab.co.uk/blog/

Earlier this year, we shared our AI Policy, an honest reflection of how we’re approaching the opportunities and dilemmas that come with artificial intelligence.

Since then, we’ve been genuinely overwhelmed by the response. Many of you have reached out to say thank you for sharing it so openly, and to tell us how it’s helped shape your own thinking and conversations about AI.

We’re glad it struck a chord. Our intention was to be transparent about our learning, and to contribute to a wider discussion about how organisations can use AI responsibly, ethically and with purpose.

We continue to explore how AI can support our work while keeping people, equity and integrity at the centre.

The conversation is just beginning, and we’re looking forward to learning together as this landscape continues to evolve.

The effective integration of our research, evaluations and funding advisory and management services is really important to us because it allows us to be creative problem solvers.

Working at the intersections of complex issues by combining a trauma informed approach with our own lived experience, we are skilled at finding innovative solutions to the challenges our clients face across all three of our services.

Whether we are finding new ways to recruit research participants, to gather, analyse and present information in our evaluations, or to streamline application processes for funders, we pride ourselves in seeing beyond the obvious and not just doing something because that's the way it’s always been done.

By bringing together different perspectives from across our own team and those of the partners we work with, we can unlock new insights and ways of working that allow us to deliver the solutions our clients seek.

Funder Plus Models: Supporting Grantees Beyond the Grant

Funding is only part of the story.

This final session in our Strengthening the Funding Ecosystem series explores how funders can support grantees to build sustainability and resilience beyond financial support.

We’ll look at the benefits and challenges of ‘Funder Plus’ models and share examples of how additional support, from capacity-building to collaboration, can help projects thrive long after the funding ends.

At Rocket Science we deliver expert support for meaningful change, and have done for more than 20 years.

Rocket Science was founded in 2001 to bring insight, innovation, and purpose driven analysis to society’s toughest challenges.

Based across London, Edinburgh, and Newcastle, we tackle inequalities through research and data insight, evaluation and social impact, and funding advisory and management support.

Our work in all of these areas is always guided by a trauma-informed, ethical approach because we’re passionate about turning evidence into equitable, actionable strategies for a healthier, fairer society for all.

There are only two more in our current series of free events for funders.

Next up on 3rd December is a deeper dive into Evaluating and Learning for Greater Impact

Monitoring and evaluation are about more than accountability, they’re about understanding what works, why that is, and how to do better next time.

In this free one-hour session, we’ll explore practical approaches to evaluation, peer learning, and measuring social and economic impact.

You’ll learn how to embed evaluation and learning into your funding programmes from the very start, drawing on a range of examples and tools including Social Return on Investment and impact reporting.
