Vodafone is planning to add 7,000 software engineers by 2025 to develop more of its own across Europe and Africa. The operator is saying it is building a “global software brand” to provide superfast and products for its customers.

TelecomTV reports that this will added to the existing 9,000 software engineers Vodafone already employs and, by 2025, at least half of the Vodafone Technology R&D team will be software engineers, up from about 30% currently.

Another phase in an insource - outsource, build - buy/partner, digital/tech company - core cycle? Or this time it is different?

Vodafone said it would add nearly 7,000 software engineers to its workforce by 2025 to develop more of its own digital services across Europe and Africa.

Equinix Global Index 2021 release provides another evidence of the . Yes, pandemic seems to have fuelled it - but people seem to start getting tired of this statement :).

Specifically, as businesses digitize their business models and demand for increases, worldwide interconnection bandwidth is forecast to grow at 44% annual rate (CAGR) by 2024, resulting in 4x of the 2020 global total by then.

Americas seems to continue being the largest region in this regard, contributing 47% of global interconnection bandwidth.

Note: Interconnection bandwidth is a measure, calculated in bits/sec, of the capacity provisioned to privately and directly exchange traffic between two parties (enterprises, service providers), inside carrier-neutral colocation data centers. Equinix says it is forecast to be 15x larger than the Internet.

Worrying news from - with a high risk that networks may need to shut down due to the challenges to procure fuel to power them.

As it’s demonstrated starkly by pandemic, if it wasn’t obvious before, is essential to keep the economy and society going. Keeping people needs to be a priority in facing the crisis in Lebanon as well.

The worsening financial crisis in Lebanon has made diesel scarce – so much so that state-run network operators may soon have to shut down
