We did it 🥳 exhausting but such a brilliant afternoon swimming around Burgh Island, Bigbury in South Devon on a Saturday afternoon.

Highly recommend if you can get yourself here for the next one. Great atmosphere in beautiful British surroundings.

Mind you, 1.3 miles swimming in a choppy sea, very different to a few laps around the pool 🤣

Home for burgers, chips, champagne and hopefully a great England performance against Panama tonight.

Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

100th session of F45 this morning!!

Always loved my fitness and it’s the absolute foundation of everything I do and the person I am and continue to strive to be.

Joined F45 in April of this year, and not only is that 6.35am class a wonderful start to my day, however I may be feeling, it’s the community that Annie and her F45 team have put together that makes it so special.

Thank you to the team for pushing me every day, don’t think I’ve ever been fitter! 💪😅

What keeps you awake at night?

I was wide awake this morning at 2.35am 😱

When I was in hospitality, I would often have to get up in the middle of the night and write down ideas about staff training, dishes, cocktails, music we could play, events we could put on, conversations I wanted to have, potential locations, how many pastries would I need to sell to cover the rent…😬
.....and wake up to the writings of a madman!

I did the same today. Lots of random thoughts about conversations with clients, things I wanted to write about, ideas for the business.

Just needed to come out of my head.

Again, writings of a madman......with a secret message from my gorgeous daughter ❤️

"You are scaring me"

Words from my ex-partner that made me step back.

I'm over 6ft tall. 35 years of meditation practice. Never violent. Rarely raise my voice. But in that moment, my presence alone was enough.

As men, we're bred for power:

→ Playground rough and tumble

→ Sports field dominance

→ Taking up space

→ Being "strong"

Reading Caitlin Moran's "What About Men?" helped me to understand what we miss:

Even good men, with good intentions, can create fear without knowing it.

Our blind spots:

- Raising our voice means authority
- Taking space means strength
- Anger shows power. Hint. Often because we are scared
- Volume equals control

In the boardroom:

Women being talked over
Physical presence as intimidation
Power confused with dominance
Strength mistaken for leadership

What we were never taught:

Power isn’t about presence
Leadership isn’t about space
Strength isn’t about force

As men, we can be:
→ Strong without being scary
→ Protective without overpowering
→ Leaders without dominating

But only if we start asking: “How does my presence impact others?”

Men: Our strength is a gift. How we use it is a choice.

The one-way ticket that changed my life….

It was 1990 and I was standing at Heathrow, everything I owned in a backpack.

A one-way ticket to India in my pocket and about a thousand pounds in the other.

My best mate was still “thinking about it.”

My parents were splitting up. London life was... fine.

But that gnawing feeling wouldn’t go away: Stay now, and I’d wake up at 35, Still talking about “someday.”

I was desperate for an adventure.

I’d just finished reading “The Dice Man” by Luke Rhinehart written in 1971.
The books premise, what if every decision in your life was based on the roll of a dice?

And boy did I take I take that premise and run with it!, saying yes to pretty much everything, some we won’t talk about, some changed my life.

That one decision became:

- 4 years travelling across Asia and Australia.
- Countless adventures.
- Life-changing experiences.
- A completely new perspective on life.

As we get older, our default becomes ‘NO’ Our worlds shrink. Time speeds up. Dreams get smaller.

What if instead of:

Waiting for the perfect moment
Needing all the answers
Playing it safe
Staying comfortable
We just started saying ‘yes’?

- To new conversations
- To unexpected opportunities
- To different perspectives
- To life’s adventures

Our life expands or shrinks by the choices we make, by the chances we take, by the adventures we embrace.

And there is one thing for definite in life…we will all die at some stage. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

When was the last time you said ‘YES’ to something that scared you?

10 Simple TRUTHS for a fulfilled and happy life....

1. You only get one BODY. Nourish it. Move it. Love it.

2. Your TIME is finite. STOP giving it to people who drain you.

3. Your HAPPINESS is your responsibility. No one else’s.

4. LIFE is not lived in a phone. Go have ADVENTURES in the real world.

5. If you want GREAT FRIENDS and partner. Be a great friend and partner.

6. If you want FREEDOM, Build the plan, systems and habits. Take action.

7. NOBODY thinks about you as much as you think. Stop waiting for permission.

8. Your ENERGY affects everyone around you. Be the energy in the room.

9. The best conversations happen in SILENCE. Learn to LISTEN.

10. You can START AGAIN at any time. It’s never TOO LATE.

I quit alcohol over a year ago.

Here’s why I’ve decided to start drinking again:

→ I miss waking up with morning anxiety.

→ Parties are so much better when you don’t remember them

→ That feeling of happiness and calm has gotten so irritating

→ I hate that I am so clear and focused on my business

→ I miss feeling awful about the poor decisions I made the night before

→ Sleeping well every night was becoming boring anyway.

→ Being really present for my kids? Overrated.

→ Great health and feeling stupidly energetic is so overrated anyway. Isn’t it?

Ridiculous, isn’t it?

Because it is.

Quitting alcohol hasn’t taken the fun out of my life—it’s added more to it.

I’m still the first on the dance floor. I’m still laughing until my stomach hurts.

I’m just doing it all with more energy, more presence, and a clearer head.

Turns out, you don’t need a drink to have a great time.

And the best part? I get to enjoy every moment.

If you’ve ever thought about cutting back, here’s my advice:

Start small. Take one step. You might just be surprised at what you gain.

This takes me back to my childhood, cinema on a Saturday afternoon, eating popcorn 🍿 on slightly sticky seats and watching adverts for the local Indian restaurant before the main event!

Saturday afternoon treat on a 🥶 Saturday afternoon, Annelise and I decided to treat ourselves to a trip to our wonderful local community cinema to watch Paddington 3…..
