There is a sentence from a luxury travel report this year that has stayed with me.

"The travellers who went to Oman before 2010, to Comporta before 2015, to Milos before 2020,did not get a lesser version of what exists now."

They got the original. The unscripted version. The place before it knew it was being watched.

Premium travellers in 2026 are redefining luxury by focusing less on famous destinations and more on meaningful experiences. Smaller islands, countryside retreats and nature-led escapes are replacing overtourism destinations for travellers who value space and discretion over visibility.

When Men's Journal calls Santo Mine "Santorini's best-kept secret," and then explains exactly why you share it.

Sharon Tharp's piece describes it more precisely than most property write-ups manage: 37 suites carved into the cliffside above Ammoudi Bay, each one facing the Aegean, most with a private pool on the terrace. A w**e cellar cut straight into the original stone of the former mine, running tastings through Santorini's volcanic terroir and the indigenous Assyrtiko grape. Two restaurants, Ālme and Alios Ilios, turning the day's catch into contemporary Aegean plates. A fire pit and 360° lookout with uninterrupted ocean views and, as Tharp puts it, "actual room to breathe" while the crowds pack into central Oia a few minutes away.

This is Santo Mine. This is what Embracing Emotion means in practice, a property built from the history of its landscape and the character of its island rather than the aesthetics of the category.

There is something that happens in September that nobody tells you about in advance.

The destination you have been reading about, researching, and imagining, it becomes itself. Fully, unhurriedly, without an audience competing for the same view.
