The 12th Global Healthy Workplace Awards & Summit, held at the CNI Headquarters in Brasília, Brazil, concluded recently. Industry leaders from across the globe came together to recognise outstanding achievements in workplace health, wellbeing, and safety.

Hosted in partnership with Serviço Social da Indústria (SESI), the summit offered a crucial platform for exchanging ideas and innovations. This is especially important at a time when the links between climate change, mental health, and employee wellbeing are more critical than ever.

Over two days, finalists from both Large and Multinational Enterprise categories presented their groundbreaking programmes that have improved the wellbeing of thousands of employees worldwide. The prestigious 2024 Global Healthy Workplace Awards were presented to the winners: National University of Singapore (large enterprise) and a joint win for Chevron and Tata Consultancy Services (multinational enterprise). These wins further solidify the importance of sustainable health practices in the workplace. The competition was fierce, with DHL Group, Godrej Industries Group, and Petrobras coming in as runners-up.

“This summit has showcased a remarkable display of how businesses are rising to the challenge of creating healthier and more sustainable working environments,” said Wolf Kirsten, Co-Director of GCHW. “The winning organisations are prime examples of how strategic investments in health can lead to both improved productivity and social progress.”

Tommy Hutchinson, Co-Director of GCHW, added: “What truly stands out this year is the innovation and resilience shown by these employers in the face of global challenges. Their commitment to employee wellbeing goes beyond just a business strategy – it’s a fundamental value that is shaping the future of work.”

In addition to the awards, the summit featured thought-provoking keynote speeches on global mental health strategies, building climate resilience in the workplace, and how employers can gain a competitive edge through a strong culture of health. The session led by Halshka Graczyk of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on the role of healthy workplaces in addressing climate change was particularly well-received.

As the summit concluded, participants reflected on the global shift towards valuing health as a core business priority. The event underscored the critical role that workplace health plays in creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
