As a former greenkeeper I've specialised in Turf Management and looking after larger areas of land for many years and with 25+ years of experience in the horticulture sector and multiple qualifications I provide a trusted bespoke service for your needs In 2020 I became a dad for the first time and also became the primary carer for him when he was 3 months old, over the following 9 months while I

looked after him I realised that I would miss so much going back to work full time. Having been involved in the horticultural industry for over 20 years and having a passion for turf I established Daves Lawn Care in 2022, this allows me to balance life where I can continue being daddy day care and running my own business.

Business Update for my Clients and Followers

The last quarter of the year has been difficult as a gardening business thanks to the numerous heatwaves and no rainfall plus a hosepipe ban. I made the decision to put most of my garden maintenance clients on a hiatus as I felt it would not offer valuable service to my clients for the cost. Planning the work was also becoming more and more and more difficult as well as there being a genuine risk to my health working in those conditions.

As the rain has started to fall more regularly now and things are starting to green up and grow - like lawns and w**ds - I will be sending out a message to those that went on hiatus to see if you still want and require my services. I understand if you have found alternative solutions in that time or even with the cost of living crisis going on its a cost that can't be justified anymore, either way I look forward to hearing from yourselves.

Well that's no surprise.... I reckon 70% of my clientele effectively went onto hiatus for the last 3 months and when your working year is only 9 months (March - November) its unsettling times for sole trader gardeners like myself.

Though gardeners are not farmers we have still been hit by this unusual occurrence so I wonder if the government has thought about us and our industry. With all that heat and a hose pipe ban plus a cost of living crisis thanks to wars in the middle east and Ukraine and stupid government legalisation and cost implications, I wonder who will still be trading next year when everything is correctly done?
