Another great Saturday gardening session this week! We got loads done and the garden is doing really well 🌱

We planted some of the winter veg from the amazing Burgess Park Community Plant Nursery into some of the planters, creating a new winter salad patch and a herb garden 🥬😋

We pruned some of the summer growth back to keep the garden looking neat, and got some great composting done 🪏🪱

We staked and supported some of the leggy plants in the front planters to keep everything looking fresh 🪜🌿

We've got loads more plants to go in over the next few weeks, and have already started preparing some space, so come down next Saturday from 10-1 to get involved 😍

We were Back 2 Skool with a jam packed session last week and it was great to see so many of you there 😍

With lots of help, we managed to remove most of the weeds against the wall and in the beds, which will make way for our plants to thrive 💪🌱

Lots of great pruning was done to our buddleia and salvia, fingers crossed we'll get a second bloom before winter sets in 🪻🌼

We also sowed some seeds for winter salad greens and a few quick-growing flowers 🥬

Next session is this Saturday, 10am-1pm.

We'll be getting a load of new edible plants from the Burgess Park Community Plant Nursery, so in the coming weeks there'll be lots of exciting planting to do as we clear out our summer veg 😁

We built a wildlife pond at the community garden! 🐸💪💧

Huge thanks to everyone who came down to help today, it’s looking fantastic and is going to be a game-changer for local biodiversity!

Not only will this give local insects and critters a life-saving drink during the heatwave, but it’s also got varied water levels and different substrates, creating mini habitats for invertebrates at every stage of their life cycle. 🦎✨

Over the next few weeks, we’ll let the water settle, tuck in some marginal plants, and finish off the edges with rocks and rubble. 🌾🪨

If anyone has any native perennial or flowers they want to donate, we've got loads of space to plant up the edges - so donations are always welcome 😀

There will be no Saturday gardening sessions for the next 2 weeks, but we'll be back in full force on Saturday August 15th, so make sure to come down and check it out! 🌱

Thanks to our neighbours Albion Primary School for having us at their Summer Fair!

Swipe for some beautiful rubbings the kids made with leaves from lots of different plants 🍃 .... plus a cool BUMPY leaf 🫨 due to mites 🤠

Next Saturday we will be running a plant cutting workshop for beginners. Join from 10am!

Thanks to everyone who came down on Saturday to help out in the garden despite the heat 😍🫠🔥

This week we:
🚗 Filled up all the tyre planters
🍽️ Planted pots with herbs and edibles
🌱 Improved the planters around the front
✂️ Cleared the way for lots of exciting planting in the future
🫜 Harvested the rest of our radishes
🪴 Potted the remaining plug plants for the Summer Fair at the Albion Primary School tomorrow!

This Saturday we'll be firing up the Braai for a veggie BBQ from 1:30-3:30pm. Music by Suzie

Stop by to catch up, hang out & dig in 😎

Contributions welcome, but no pressure as we will be providing lots of tasty things. Supported by Southwark Council Neighbourhood Grant
