I think we can all agree that the world of work is shifting.

With changes brought on by the pandemic...

and the rapid growth of technology and AI...

it can feel sometimes like you have no control over your working life and future.

One thing for sure is that we all need to get used to dealing with change.

After 20 years in the corporate world in recruitment and training and 4 years as a business owner...

I believe that having an entrepreneurial mindset while in your job will become just as important as for those starting a business.

Thinking and behaving like an entrepreneur will help you deal with any uncertainty, navigate any changes and take control of your working life.

I left my career because I wanted to 'be my own boss' but I can see now that that is not exclusive to having a business.

Yes, as an employee you have less freedom as you will have to follow the rules of the company you are working for at that time...

Ok, so I LOVE musicals! Well, anything with singing involved really but musicals are something I love.

When I first heard Defying Gravity, it was just a great song, its lyrics did not mean much. I was in my early 20s just starting out in my career and felt totally in charge and in my power.

It was only when it popped up in a musical playlist when I was in the final years of my corporate career that I actually listened to the lyrics. They totally connected with me. I did feel like I’d changed. I was fed up with the rules. I knew I needed to trust my instincts and leave.

You might think that you should not close your eyes and leap into the unknown, which is true, you do need to have a plan and know where you are landing.

But even when you have all that in place, there will always be a ni**le of doubt and that’s when you do need to close your eyes and leap, or your subconscious will always find reasons for why it’s not the right time or some other excuse.

Action overcomes doubts.

Here’s what I’ve learned after almost 20 years in corporate and 4 years as the boss of my own business…

What it takes to succeed in your career is not that different from what’s needed to get ahead in entrepreneurship.

The main thing I see holding aspiring entrepreneurs and wannabe corporate leaders back isn’t a lack of experience, knowledge, skill or motivation.

Most of the people I speak with have all that in spades but they still remain stuck and frustrated where they are, unable to make that dream next chapter a reality.

If that’s you, then know the reason you are stuck where you are probably isn’t about not ‘having what it takes’ or not having the ‘time or energy to’ make it happen.

So what is it that makes the difference?

The answer is that it all comes down to how YOU confidently show up in the world as your brilliant, bold, authentic self.

Yes, skills, experience, talent and knowing the right methods are a factor…

But they are useless unless you have the confidence, resilience and authority to back it up.

Whether you are looking to climb the corporate ladder, change to another career or take the ultimate leap to become your own boss…

You have to become BOSS, before you can become THE boss.

Becoming Boss is an attitude, a mindset, a strategy and a powerful way of behaving that will ensure you always come out on top.

It’s 3 years this month since…..

I switched off my computer, grabbed my goodbye gifts and strode out of the City of London office into the bright sunshine for the last time.

I was so joyful and excited.

After over a year of running my business as a side hustle, and planning my exit, I was now free to throw myself fully into it.

I had made the decision and now it was actually happening.

Here’s how I got there…

I BELIEVED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE AND I WAS WORTHY OF IT.

Simple as that.

Yes, I learnt a lot, created good habits, prepared my finances, did the work etc etc

But really, what made the difference came from inside me.

Since then, my life has transformed...

🇫🇷 I've moved to a beautiful house in France
✈️ I can travel and work whenever and wherever I want
❤️ I get to work with fantastic clients (that I want to work with!)

Has it always been easy? No! Becoming your own boss can be challenging.

But so is achieving anything in life you really want.

I am WORTHY of what I desire.
