The guilt you feel about money, the kind that won’t let you say no or spend on yourself, you didn’t choose it. It was handed to you, probably before you were old enough to remember.

If you were the first-born, you weren’t really allowed to just be a child. You were the second parent. The sensible one. The one who grew up early so everyone else could stay young. Nobody asked if you wanted that job. You were just given it.

But a role you were handed as a child is not a debt you owe for the rest of your life. You were trained to put yourself last…. which means it can be untrained. The guilt feels like your nature. It isn’t. It’s an old instruction you never agreed to.

You’re allowed to set it down. 🤍

Happy birthday to me! I made it to year 36… What God can not do does not exist.

I am a complete different version of myself this time later year and the years before and I love this version but I also know that there’s more. My plan is to keep Jesus at the centre of my life and He will continue to make everything beautiful.

You can’t just sn**ch food out of someone’s plate just because you can. When dealing with a fellow human, empathy is very essential. There’s a reason God blessed you with the resources you have, you should not use it like you have the ultimate control.

The first time I set a real boundary with my family, I genuinely thought it would blow everything up.

When you’re the first-born, you’re taught that your job is to hold everyone, and that if you ever stop, it all falls apart and it’s your fault. So you don’t even test it. You just keep carrying until there’s nothing left of you.

But when I finally said “I can’t do this one”… calmly, with love, the sky didn’t fall. The relationship survived. And some of them respected me more for it.

The catastrophe you’re scared of is almost never the one that happens. Boundaries don’t end love. They make it something you can actually keep giving.
