Hampton, we need to talk about steam irons ! The most common issues we see with irons brought into the Hampton Repair Shop are:

1) the cable is all frayed exposing the wires
2) steam no longer comes out.

Issue 2 is usually solved with some descaler being run through it and wiping off the timescale as it comes out.

The iron in this picture was about 3 years old and we replaced the worn out cable for it's owner. The part was £10 compared to a similar new iron at £30+ and there's an environmental benefit.....that we like 👍

So,this month we'll be repairing on July 1st and 15th. Our session on the 1st will be finishing at 16.30 as we want to watch the England game 😄. Also, our clothes repairer isn't with us this week so no clothes please.

After several hours of repairing, Repairer Andy has fixed this £220 Dyson hair dryer. At this price appliances like this are a luxury purchase - other decent dryers are £30-50 - so why would you simply buy the same again without trying to fix this first 🤔

Two Dysons at our last Repair Shop session. Maybe we'll see some more at our next session this coming Wednesday 20th May but whatever you have that is broken we will try and fix it.
Please note we are not able to repair clothes this session but we can have a go at cameras and clocks this time 👍.
Last session we repaired 93% of items which was our highest ever and we usually repair 70%+
