📍Durham County Council, Green Lane, Spennymoor, DL16 6JQ.

Sessions will be held from every half an hour starting from 9.30am until 2pm.

The sessions are free to attend and booking is not required.

Councillors will hear next week that the purchase of a major city centre development by the council would be of significant economic benefit to Durham.

Our Cabinet members will be asked for agreement to proceed with negotiations to buy the freehold on the Milburngate site.

Situated at the heart of the city centre, the private sector development’s prime location makes it an integral part of Durham’s future economic prosperity.

It is also key to the council’s plans for the creation of an Innovation District, which would include the Aykley Heads site, Durham University’s Business School and Data Centre and the refurbished Durham Light Infantry Museum and Art Gallery.

Recent research shows that nearly half of UK workers feel they are “running on empty,” with burnout, mental health issues, and work-related stress costing the economy approximately £28 billion each year (MHFA England).

The effects of poor mental health on UK employees:

- Over half of all work-related illnesses are due to poor mental health, with around 51% of long-term sick leave attributed to stress, depression, or anxiety.

- 55% of employees feel that their work is becoming more intense and demanding.

- 61% of employees report feeling exhausted at the end of most working days.

- A report by Deloitte found that 64% of managers have thought about leaving their jobs to find roles that better support their wellbeing.

- 70% of managers identified organisational barriers to supporting employee wellbeing, such as company policies, heavy workloads, unsupportive workplace culture, and a lack of the necessary skills.
