When the..'I know loads of people I can introduce you to' becomes tumbleweed and crickets.....

As a new startup founder, you've taken the plunge and left the corporate world behind full of enthusiasm and excitement..

But there's one thing that can quickly dampen this enthusiasm, the EMPTY promises of your friends and former colleagues. 😫

As soon as you told people about your new venture everyone is a self-proclaimed "connection wizard" and can't wait to introduce you to your "perfect client."

Fast forward a few weeks, and the reality sets in.

They are full of 💩 💩

Whilst the sentiment is appreciated....a genuine introduction email takes five minutes and could be the difference between a struggling startup and a thriving business.

So as a reminder to all the new founders out there, keep your head up!

There are amazing people out there who will genuinely support your venture.

Just remember, sometimes the best opportunities come from your own hustle by networking with people who are genuinely interested in your success.

❓ They always used to overachieve...what's happened?

First one in the City today (office not the whole city) 😉

Obviously it's nice to get a seat on the train and almost one on the tube..

But...getting up around 5am isn't for everyone but I either get a long walk in, a gym session or today an early start in the office...

For me an early start means I get a lot more done, i'm definitely more productive in the morning.....

Will probably crash about 3pm and need some coffee though 😫 ..

What do we think about the minimum wage debate?

Every few years the debate surfaces sparking heated discussions about fairness, economic impact, and consequences for businesses and employees.

The Pros are:

Raising the minimum wage directly puts more money in the pockets of those struggling to make ends meet, improving their quality of life and reducing poverty.

Increased wages lead to higher spending power, which can boost consumer demand and economic activity, benefiting businesses in the long run.

The Cons:

Higher labour costs can force small businesses to cut jobs, reduce hours, or raise prices, potentially leading to business closures.

Critics argue that minimum wage increases often get passed on to consumers as higher prices, negating the benefits for low-wage workers.

Some also argue that higher minimum wages discourage businesses from creating new jobs, particularly entry-level positions.

I think we need to try and find a middle ground that stops people struggling but also protects small businesses. 🤔

What do you think, is there a viable answer?

When was your ‘I’m going to create something of my own’ moment? 🤔

One for the Founders, CEO’s, Managing Directors, Owners, and Self-Employed people in my network.

For me it was another pointless 'Corporate' conference call with at least 20 ‘internal stakeholders’ reviewing the ongoing sales pursuit I was leading. 🙄 🙄

😩 Are we still doing this deal?

😩 What progress have we made this week?

😩 How certain are we that it will close this Qtr?

😡 Can we make more profit if we resolution it for the 18th time?

😮 Can we steal some of the team to work on this ‘shiny’ new unqualified deal we have just found out about?

GRRRR

‘I will be able to be a lot more effective if I actually get time with the client instead of spending time on these pointless calls answering the same stupid questions on a weekly basis!!’

So, it was no brainer for me to say ENOUGH, let me bring my experience from the last 35 years to help smaller businesses be more successful.

(whilst avoiding the red tape and internal bullsh that happens in the large corporates)

What made you either jump from Corporate life or decide from the start that the entrepreneurial life was the direction you should take?

Who’s going to rule the workplace Robots or Humans?

They’re coming..actually they've been here a while....!!

But before you head for the nearest ‘safe space’

Is it really going to be that bad 🤔

Is Alexa going to take your job or will your line manager be named Siri?

Personally I’m leaning towards things being all rosy and the beneficial nature of AI not .... 💀 Terminators and Skynet 💀

AI can....

1️⃣ Give data-driven insights for better decision making! Less gut feel decisions leading to disaster. AI can analyse data really fast, making informed choices that even your board may (eventually) understand.

2️⃣ Tailor the experience to each individual so learning can be tailored to how individuals want to consume it. Learning may become addictive now even more than doom scrolling on Tik Tok.

3️⃣ Get AI to do all your repeatable and frankly boring tasks, offload all your reports, get a bot to answer your emails or collaborate with a team member who happens to be the equivalent of an artificial Albert Einstein.

Other current use cases

✅ AI chatbots are helping companies provide 24/7 support, freeing human agents for complex issues.

✅ AI is sifting through CV’s and identifying the best candidates based on skills and experience.

✅ AI is analysing medical data to diagnose diseases faster and more accurately, potentially saving lives and making doctors lives easier.

I'm all for our digital 'friends' what do you think.....?

(Hopefully)

‘Why Turning Product And Service Features into Customer Benefits Is Crucial’

Amelia was an aspiring entrepreneur who became disillusioned with the corporate world and wanted to bring her idea for a product that could revolutionise the beauty industry to life.

This innovative skincare line boasted all-natural ingredients and unique formulations. However, she struggled to attract customers and convert leads into sales, leaving her tired frustrated and wondering if she was doing the right thing.

Amelia decided to start analysing competitor’s client feedback and conducting surveys, by doing so she gained valuable insights into what her potential buyers truly sought: glowing youthful skin without the harmful chemicals.

Amelia knew to succeed she needed to bridge the gap between her product features and the results her potential consumers wanted to achieve. She realised that highlighting the natural ingredients and unique formulations were not enough, she needed to show how her skincare line could transform their lives.

Amelia sought the guidance of a seasoned marketer who emphasised the importance of simple but effective communication. She learned to focus on the benefits of her product in a clear and persuasive manner, rather than just inundating her potential customers with technical jargon and ingredients.

Amelia completely revamped her marketing materials. Instead of listing the ingredients, she emphasised how each element nourished the skin and contributed to a radiant complexion. She communicated the absence of harmful chemicals, highlighting the fact that they were safe and natural products.

To establish a deeper connection, she also shared her personal journey of struggling with skincare issues and how her product line had transformed her life. By making her brand relatable and authentic, she gained the trust of lots of potential buyers.

As her new approach started to gain traction, Amelia expanded her product offerings. She listened to her customers' requests and introduced complimentary items to encourage multiple repeat purchases.

Amelia's marketing efforts began to bear fruit. Her once struggling business flourished, and she established a loyal customer base.

The power of understanding customer needs and converting product features into customer benefits transformed her brand into a success story.

'What Are You Struggling With Currently?'

Interested to see what are the most pressing challenges for the SME Business Owners in my network? 🤔

⭐️ Uncertainty due to Economic Conditions: Small businesses often struggle with uncertainties due to the UK economy, and global economic trends, which has an impact on their clients behaviour and their business operations.

⭐️ Marketing and Branding: Promoting their products or services effectively and building a strong brand identity can be difficult for small businesses with the squeeze on their limited marketing budgets.

⭐️ Access to Finance: Securing funding and loans at reasonable interest rates can be very challenging for small businesses, which in turn limits their growth and expansion opportunities.

⭐️ Regulatory Compliance: Navigating complex regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements can be a nightmare for small businesses, requiring resources and time that could be better spent in other areas.

⭐️ Skills Shortages: Finding and retaining skilled employees within a competitive job market can be a significant challenge for SME's, particularly in technology and specialised sectors.

⭐️ Digital Transformation: Adapting to and integrating technology into business processes can be daunting and expensive for small businesses that lack the necessary expertise and resources.

⭐️ Rising Costs: Increasing costs of utilities, rent, and raw materials can put a strain on the profitability and sustainability of small businesses.

⭐️ Cybersecurity and Data Protection: As cyber threats become more and more sophisticated, small businesses must invest in robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and mitigate against reputational damage.

⭐️ Competition from Larger Businesses and Online Retailers: Small businesses face stiff competition from larger companies and online retailers, making it challenging to attract and retain customers.

What challenges are YOU focused on currently?
