Is your Sponsor Licence compliance where it should be?

Many businesses only think about compliance when the Home Office contacts them. By then, it may already be too late.

Holding a sponsor licence comes with ongoing duties. Failure to meet those obligations can result in:
❌ Licence suspension
❌ Licence revocation
❌ Civil penalties
❌ Disruption to your workforce
❌ Reputational and financial damage

At Prime Immigration Consultants, we assist UK employers with sponsor licence compliance by helping them:
βœ” Review HR systems and record-keeping
βœ” Conduct mock compliance audits
βœ” Identify and address potential compliance risks
βœ” Ensure reporting and record-keeping obligations are understood
βœ” Prepare for potential Home Office compliance visits

Whether you're applying for your first sponsor licence or already employ Skilled Workers, taking a proactive approach to compliance can help reduce the risk of problems arising later.

If your business would benefit from a confidential review of its sponsor licence compliance processes, we'd be happy to discuss how we may be able to assist.

⚠️ Thinking about the UK Service Supplier Route? Please read this first.

Over the past few weeks, I've received a growing number of enquiries about the Global Business Mobility – Service Supplier route after people have seen videos and posts on social media suggesting it is an "easy route" to work in the UK.

Unfortunately, much of the information being shared is incomplete or misleading.

The Service Supplier route is not a general work visa and it cannot be used simply because a UK business wants to employ someone from overseas.

Some of the key requirements include:

βœ… The UK organisation must be approved by the Home Office to sponsor workers under the Global Business Mobility – Service Supplier route.

βœ… The applicant must normally be employed by an overseas service provider or be an eligible self-employed independent professional established overseas.

βœ… The services must be provided under a qualifying international trade agreement.

βœ… The relevant service contract must be registered with the Home Office before a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) can be assigned.

βœ… The applicant must normally have at least 12 months' employment with the overseas employer (or, where applicable, satisfy the relevant professional experience requirements).

βœ… The applicant must meet the relevant skill, qualification and/or professional experience requirements under the applicable trade agreement.

βœ… This is a temporary immigration route and does not provide a direct route to settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain).

The key point is this: Not every overseas business, contract or worker will qualify. Every application depends on the Immigration Rules, the applicable international trade agreement, and the specific facts of the case.

Please be cautious about relying on short social media videos or posts when making important immigration decisions. Always check the current Immigration Rules or seek professional advice.

If you require advice on the Service Supplier route, Sponsor Licences, or any other UK business immigration matter, please get in touch.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ UK Immigration Update: Important Rule Changes Effective from 3 August 2026

The UK Home Office has announced several changes to the Immigration Rules that will come into force on 3 August 2026. Here are three key developments that applicants and sponsors should be aware of:

1. Graduate Route – UK-Born Children

Children born in the UK to parents who hold permission under the Graduate Route will now be able to apply as Graduate dependants. This change aims to help families maintain lawful immigration status without unnecessary complications.

2. Tougher Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Rules

The Home Office is introducing stricter suitability requirements for ETAs. An ETA application may now be refused or cancelled where an individual has received a suspended prison sentence of 12 months or more, strengthening border security measures.

3. New In-Country Application Options for Individuals on Immigration Bail

Under new exceptions to the Immigration Rules, certain individuals on immigration bail may now be eligible to submit applications from within the UK for specific immigration routes, including:
β€’ Student
β€’ Graduate
β€’ Skilled Worker
β€’ Global Business Mobility
β€’ Other qualifying categories

These changes may provide new opportunities for eligible applicants who were previously unable to apply from inside the UK.

πŸ“… Effective Date: 3 August 2026

If you are unsure how these changes may affect your immigration status or future application, our experienced team at Prime Immigration Consultants is here to help.

Sponsor Licence Holders: Don’t Let CoS Delays Put Your Workforce at Risk‼️

One of the biggest challenges UK sponsors are currently facing is the significant delay in obtaining additional Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) allocations and renewing annual CoS allocations.

Current processing times are typically 16–18 weeks, and while priority requests are available, the chances of securing a priority slot remain extremely limited, even after repeated attempts.

These delays are leaving many employers unable to assign a CoS in time, creating uncertainty for employees whose visas are nearing expiry. For many workers and their families, this means unnecessary stress, instability, and anxiety about their future in the UK.

πŸ’‘ Our advice to all Sponsor Licence holders:
βœ… Regularly review the immigration status and visa expiry dates of all sponsored workers.
βœ… Plan well ahead and submit requests for additional or renewed CoS allocations at least 6–8 months before an employee’s visa expires.
βœ… Don’t wait until the last minute- early preparation can help avoid costly delays and disruption to your business.

At Prime Immigration Consultants, we help businesses stay compliant, manage their Sponsor Licence duties, monitor visa expiry dates, and prepare CoS allocation requests in advance, so you can focus on running your business with confidence.

πŸ“ž Get in touch today to find out how our Sponsor Licence Management and Compliance services can support your business and help you avoid unnecessary delays.
