Not every piece of recovered IT sells as a standalone item. We reduce prices over time, but when equipment reaches its minimum viable price, we remove it from the market and look at what else it could become.

By building suitable items into bundles, we give them another chance to be reused, while making better use of limited warehouse space and helping avoid unnecessary dismantling or landfill.

Selling repaired IT equipment is rarely as simple as putting it in a box. Different devices need different packaging, and finding the right size and protection can take time.

We use recycled cardboard, air cushions and other protective materials to prepare each item for secure transit. It is a careful process, but it helps repaired technology arrive safely and ready for its next use.

What happens to refurbished IT before it finds a new owner?

Our LTS — Long Term Storage — is where suitable equipment is kept safely after refurbishment, while it waits to sell. Every item is listed on our eBay shops and GearHaven.co.uk, with prices reduced each week until they become approachable for someone who needs the equipment.

This helps us recover value from stock donated by our clients and, wherever possible, keep useful technology in circulation rather than treating it as waste.

When unwanted IT equipment is collected, the smaller accessories still need a responsible route. Keyboards and mice may have little or no resale value for us, so we separate them for recycling and disassemble them into plastics, cables and circuit boards.

We also take care to keep laptop chargers together with the equipment they belong to wherever possible. This helps support better reuse and more accurate processing.

We’ve collected 207 laptops from Siemens Healthineers as part of their Recycling Week efforts.

This is only the first stage. We’ll complete a detailed inventory, securely erase the data and provide certificates of destruction. We’ll then work with Siemens Healthineers to remove BIOS passwords and MDM locks before repairing and testing the equipment.

Our aim is to return as many laptops as possible to the circular market, with proceeds donated to education and schools.
