I’m sharing them

Featured in People Management magazine (for HR enthusiasts!) - this was on my career bucket list 🙌🏼

🏆 I won a NatWest Business Award for my HR consultancy achievements - despite my Dyslexia - (don’t worry, my Dyslexia tripped me up a few times too - let’s not mention my accounts!! *)

I was a regular guest on BBC Radio Oxford (my hometown) we a thought leader on People
Management and HR 📣

Invited to write a chapter for the book Unzenable - ‘a guide to stress less and be more’ Available on Amazon 📕.

Know that l’m not sharing these highlights to show off (that’s really not my style) I’m sharing because despite being triple Neurodivergent, I have STILL been able
to achieve these successes. 💜💜💜

💸💸💸💸I’ve been submitting accounts for the last 15 years and this year is the FIRST year I have EVER:

⏰ A) submitted it not only on time. It used to be 11.59 on the 31st Jan or waaaay after incurring fines. But EARLY!!!!

B) Not had sleepless nights for MONTHS prior to Jan because I’d not find my bookkeeping or had a clue where to start 🙈

C) Not cried in sheer desperation at how overwhelmed and confused I was 😭😭😭😭😭

D) Not hated myself because I was so disorganised and feel like a useless failure because I find numbers so difficult ❤️

E) Paid my Tax bill early because I hadn’t forgotten!!

I still can’t get over how life changing my ADHD diagnosis last year has been, it’s literally changed everything for the better (mostly.)

I don’t think I’ve ever said this…. Ever… but I’m really proud of ME 🥰

Meanwhile - I am still remain to be surprised every bloody year that I actually have to pay tax and will spend the next few weeks hexing HMRC! 🤣😜

It’s called ADHD Tax people and it’s taken 15 years to realise it! 🎉🥳👏🏼

In my 20s I would’ve celebrated with a expensive bottle of champers but here I am in my 40s celebrating with a hormone balancing tonic!!! It’s called growth 😜

⚠️An unusually serious post from me!

If you know me, you’ll know that I tend to steer well clear of anything political. 🫣 Although on this topic I’m making the exception!

- in the workplace - more specifically the lack there of.

I find it shocking that 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent yet only 38% of workplaces have a neurodiversity programme! And many employers still don’t know the basics of support and accommodations.

So today I started the conversation with to pitch to parliament making neurodiversity awareness and education mandatory for employers.

There’s some HUGE hurdles to climb, but having spent 20 years struggling in the workplace and knowing I’m not alone - I’m determined to make sure we turn the volume up in supporting neurodivergent brains in the workplace.

You’re about to see me work harder for this than I would for front row seats at a gig.

We need to do better. 🦾

🤩What a day! - What a week, and it’s not over yet!

It all started off a bit wonky with a belter of a cold and some huge let downs - but as ever, my good old ADHD brain excels in a crisis! 🥴😜🤣

So here I am … feeling like death, armed with my fidget gadget, delivering an ‘Introduction to Neurodiversity’ and sharing how to support neurodivergent brains in the workplace to 77 different organisations. 🖤

I had some amazing feedback and can’t wait to share soon!

With ADHD I have exactly three types of work days:

Get absolutely nothing done

Get 4 hours of work done, at a random time of day

Get 40 hours of work done in 8 hours

This is fairly common in ADHDers and it can be hard, BUT the main take away is… Focus on the output - not the amount of time you've sat at your desk staring at a screen!

Self kindness is key and for many, understanding that these are just the ways our brains allow is to work doesn't make us any less hardworking.

👩🏽‍💼Are an employer who has a weekly fire alarm test? 🧯

This can be really triggering for your employees - especially those within your neurodiverse community, who are sensitive to noise 🎧 (let’s face it if you have employees - there will be at least 1 person!) 👇🏽

💜Consider making an adjustment.

🏭This could be doing it when the building is closed (check your fire regs first) so that there is little interruption.

🌈 If you have a formal ND community or ERG ask a champion to invite thise who might be impacted for a walk round the block 🌳

🎧 And/or provide noise cancelling earphones - and a diary invite 5 mins before to remind them what’s coming.
