😫 Did you know that working mothers are up to 40% more stressed?

A major study has found that working mothers are 18% more stressed than other people, rising to 40% more stressed when they have two or more children.

Working mothers are close to our hearts here at VA Work. Many of our VAs are mothers themselves, as is VA Work’s founder, Ewa Leslie.

Ewa says:

“It’s no surprise to learn this, although I do find it troubling. It can be so difficult to manage work commitments and family responsibilities, without feeling that you are compromising on both. I’ve been there.

“For me, the key is being realistic about what I want to achieve versus what I really need to achieve, and to ask for help when I need it.”

💻 Is remote working here to stay?

It looks likely, in some form at least.

While not all industries can support working from home, the benefits for many people are clear.

⏰More time at home.
🤸More flexibility over when or how to work.
🚆No commute.

Working from home more often also helps us spend time with loved ones who need us; our children and our partners.

The VA Work team has long embraced remote working, so for us, it’s simply a way of life, but for many, it may mark a big change.

What a year 2020 has been.

Our Christmas looks a lot different too, as many of us expect to spend the season apart from loved ones.

But nothing can stop us doing what’s really important this Christmas.

The VA Work team will be:

🍫Drinking hot chocolate and watching our favourite Christmas telly and movies.
🏃Taking some long walks to refresh our minds and bodies.
🙏 Practising our gratitude for what we do have, not focusing on what we’re missing.

⏰ Time is running out…

Or that’s how it feels sometimes. Whether you’re an executive leading a company or a stay-at-home parent juggling a busy family schedule, it can feel as if time is never on your side.

Did you know?

❌Business owners spend up to 7 hours a week on wasted activities.
❌Up to 80% of the average working day is spent on activities with little or no value.
❌46% of stress reported amongst employees is caused by an overwhelming workload.

Too much work, too little focus on value and all that time wasted.

And yet, time is the most valuable thing we have. In fact, it’s all we really have.

So how can we better manage this precious resource?

✅ Try a time tracking app for just one week. There are lots of free options out there and you might be surprised by what your biggest time drains are.
✅ Practice delegation. It’s a learned skill for most people but an important one, both personally and professionally.
✅ Ask for help! No one needs to grind it out alone, day after day. Draw in help from colleagues, family and friends where you can.
