It’s been a fantastic week of reflection following last week’s ‘Mend + Tend’ event hosted by the amazing trio Kerry, Faye, and Tess from A Brilliant Thing

Being in a room full of health, education, and community practitioners who have chosen to embrace JOY, be open to innovation, and approach their calling(s) differently really provided the opportunity for everyone in attendance to, in turn, also be open about their own pain to passion journeys!

My word of the year has been ‘authenticity’ and the reality is that not everything has been smooth sailing all the time—that’s life. The opportunity to represent and share a bit about my own journey, the victories, and the learnings was just what the doctor ordered!

As we crawl across the finish line, it goes without saying that it has been an incredibly difficult year for not only global health as sector, but for health systems everywhere.

Sadly, the worse of it has been felt by the many populations and subpopulations worldwide whose access to lifesaving healthcare and subsequent health outcomes has also been (and continue to be) negatively affected. This has come at a time of increasing political unrest, workforce burnout, misinformation, and the discrediting of entire professions such as public health.

Having pivoted from a more generic health equity transformation consultancy to a more ‘key population’-focused, intentional global health equity consultancy, we stand as only one micro-cog in the massive machine that is global health equity, yet we too have felt the negative impact this has had on the work we do.

Nevertheless, it is important that we take a moment to reflect on what has been an incredible year of learning, growth, and resilience for our micro-organisation.

To all of those who have commissioned our services, referred us for new opportunities, flagged relevant bids and tenders, advocated for our involvement around decision-making tables, and best of all, those who have returned to express gratitude for our contributions and or involvement. THANK YOU!

While most of our work happens behinds the scenes, this carousel captures the key highlights from our 2025 journey—in pictures!

2026, we are ready for you, whatever you may bring.

Wishing you strength, peace, and renewed insight for the year ahead!

Let’s ! 👊🏾✨

Incredible first day of the 6th Global School on Refugee and Migrant Health here in Geneva, Switzerland!

Times are more difficult than ever for individuals experiencing displacement and uncertainty, sometimes, within the borders of their own country.

We have got work to do to restore health systems to ensure they have capacity to meet the needs of rapidly changing populations.

This year’s World AIDS Day theme is “Over coming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”—and a very fitting theme indeed.

Wherever you are today, as you set off to support, educate, mobilise, and strategise today, let us remember those we love, those we’ve lost, and those who have been directly and indirectly affected by this year’s disruptions to the HIV/AIDS response.

Whether it be in the face of war, famine, natural and unnatural disaster alike, we stand together, in solidarity with one another, with a determination to overcome that disruption and serve as transforming agents within the wider AIDS response this year!

🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲**SUPPORT FOR JAMAICA** 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Unstukk is a UK-based independent global health equity transformation consultancy, born out of the desire to help support people and their organisations build the capacity to create meaningful change within and beyond the field of global public health and development.

Today, we are raising funds for Kay's Learning Institute, a Special Needs Academy in Montego Bay, Jamaica who were recently devastated by Hurricane Melissa! Having recently visited Kay's SEND school, we believe this is a cause that aligns with our values of putting people first, giving them the tools, and creating the conditions to thrive!

Read Kerrian's Story!
--

Hi, my name is Kerrian. I am a special needs teacher based in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have been a teacher for over 15 years, but for the past two years I have been running a small special needs school from my home, focusing on creating a safe, sensitive, and inclusive space for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the local area.

On the 31st of October, my home was severely damage due to Hurricane Melissa. We lost our roof, incurred significant damage due to severe flooding, and lost all of our learning materials, assets which have taken years to create and develop.

Now, I am turning to my community of educators, advocates, and humanitarians to ask for donations to help rebuild my home so that I can continue creating a safe, sensitive, and inclusive space for my SEND students who have worked so hard to overcome their learning difficulties.

The funds will be use to repair our damaged roof, secure the building, and repurchase the learning materials that we lost as a result of this devastating disaster.

Every little bit counts! Let's help 'Kay's Learning Institute' get Unstukk!

Will you help us?

Spent the day celebrating the ‘Doers’ of health equity, with a spotlight on Rare Diseases and Conditions, hosted by the powerhouse that is Dr Sondra Butterworth, fellow Chester grad, health equity pracademic, and founder of RareQoL

It was also a first introduction to a wide range of rare diseases and illness that are hardly if ever noticed, discussed, or even diagnosed by clinicians, globally!

What excited me most about today’s event was all the new (and old) connections I made today and all the future work that can and will be done as a result of those connections!

Let’s remain open to new ways of understanding and applying intersectionality and reimagining health equity approaches for the most vulnerable among us!
