The Biology Gap
The Missing Piece in Leadership Development
Here's something strange I've noticed after 20 years of reading leadership literature:
We talk endlessly about managing people, leading people, developing people. But we almost never talk about their biology.
Yet our embodiment is core to being human. And that embodiment hinges on biological functions and chemical processes — central to it all is the human nervous system.
We're trying to lead humans without understanding how humans actually work.
Not just psychologically. But biologically.

My husband Octavio died on 1 February and we celebrated his life yesterday on 14 February 2018. He was only 52 and was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour, a Glioblastoma Multiforme, in June 2012 when he was given about 15 months. GBMs change people’s lives in tremendous ways. We have been on a journey that most people cannot imagine in their wildest dreams. Octavio is gone and I cannot begin to explain how big the pain is. Others are being diagnosed with GBM daily. No significant breakthroughs have been made to increase survival time significantly in the last 60 years. Please donate to change the prospects of those diagnosed in future. Thank you!!
