Because we’re not saying building a business alongside a career and family is easy.

It isn’t.

There were late nights.
The second shift after bedtime.
The exhaustion.
The constant juggle.

What Anisha’s story shows is something different.

When she launched Personalised Longlasting Jewellery for Every Day , she was working four days a week. That gave her one day each week to focus on building her business.

And for around 18 months, she was intentional with that time.

She didn’t spend it waiting for customers to find her.

She spent it getting visible.

Markets.
Pop-ups.
Events.
Networking.
Finding ways to get her brand in front of people.

Because people can’t buy from a business they’ve never heard of.

At the same time, she kept a close eye on the numbers.

She didn’t reduce her working week because she felt ready.

She reduced it when the business was ready.

When customers were buying.
When they were coming back.
When sales were consistent.
When the numbers made sense.

That’s what makes this story so powerful.

Not that she took a huge risk.

But that she built something sustainable alongside everything else life was asking of her.

The smartest founders don’t choose between security and ambition.

They build evidence.
They build visibility.
And then they make their next move.

If Anisha’s journey resonates with you, you’ll be able to meet her at Be Seen. Get Funded - The MOB’s Headline event of the year, on 24 June, in partnership with Mettle the NatWest Business Accelerator and Noba Capital VC.

Come and discover the story behind Initialled, shop her beautiful jewellery collection, get pieces personalised at her stand, and chat with a founder who has built a thriving brand one intentional step at a time.

Of course we said yes Amy Attfield ! At Mums Who Build, we’re not interested in keeping talented women hidden.

Our meet-ups and workshops exist to help mums get visible, share their expertise, build authority and create opportunities that lead to income.

Because when women are seen, they get hired.

When they share their knowledge, they build trust.

And when they make money, they gain choices.

That’s what we’re here for.

Good luck tomorrow, Amy. Go show them what you’ve got. 🚀

Returning to work after children isn’t just a logistical transition.

It’s an identity shift.

That was the focus of last Friday’s The MOB: App + Slack Community Big MOB Meetup panel discussion, where we explored a topic that affects so many women professionally, yet rarely gets talked about openly.

When conversations about returning to work after children happen, they tend to centre around childcare, flexible working, schedules and logistics.

But beneath all of that sits a much deeper question:

“Who am I now - and how do I move forward from here?”

Together, our panel explored this question through three different lenses:

✨ Identity & Life Coach for Identity & Life Coach for Ambitious Mums ⚡️ty, self-leadership and why so many women find themselves trying to “get back” to who they were before children - rather than understanding who they’ve become.

✨ Lydia, Founder of The Infinity Style Studio The Infinity Style Studios something we embody, not just think about - and how personal style, self-expression and visibility can help us reconnect with ourselves professionally.

✨ Hannah, Founder of LoudHer Voice Coaching spoLoudHer Voice Coachingence and communication, highlighting the very real physical and emotional impact motherhood can have on how we feel in our bodies, express ourselves and advocate for our needs.

One of the most powerful ideas that emerged from the discussion was this:

A snake sheds its skin when it outgrows it.

It doesn’t try to climb back inside.

Yet so many women spend years trying to force themselves back into an old version of themselves.

An old definition of success.

An old way of working.

An old identity.

Perhaps the goal isn’t to get back to who you were.

Perhaps the opportunity is to understand who you’ve become - and intentionally build your next chapter from there.

Because motherhood doesn’t just change your circumstances.

It changes YOU as a whole, multifacted human.

And that’s not a problem to solve.

It’s a transformation to understand, embrace and celebrate.

Thank you to our brilliant panellists and to every woman who joined the conversation and shared so openly.

Building a business is emotional.

One day you’re celebrating a win.
The next you’re solving a problem nobody prepared you for.

The founders who succeed aren’t the ones who never doubt themselves.

They’re the ones who keep going anyway 💪

Sally, founder of Ivy | Clothes to feel good about , is a brilliant example of that. She has built a mega, sustainable brand from the ground up and we’re delighted she’ll be joining us at Be Seen. Get Funded event, with an Ivy stall.

Come and meet her. Ask questions. Shop the collection. Learn from someone who has done the work.

And that’s exactly what Be Seen. Get Funded. is all about.

A room full of ambitious founders, investors, experts and opportunities. Real conversations. Practical learning. The connections that can change the trajectory of your business.

In partnership with NatWest Accelerator, Mettle and NoBa Capital, this is our flagship event of the year and it only happens once.

If you’re serious about increasing your visibility, growing your network and unlocking funding opportunities, this is the room to be in.

24 June. Don’t miss it.

💡 Building a business… or thinking about it? This is for you.

This Thursday at our monthly Crouch End Skills Workshop, we’re thrilled to be joined by founders Elsie and Dominika, better known as 🙌

Many of you will know them as the founders of BYBI, the natural skincare brand they built from the ground up, scaled into Sephora and Target, and successfully exited in 2024. They’re now building their next venture, self-care brand

You’ve got the idea. Now what?

This session is all about bridging the gap between thinking about it and actually doing it, practically, honestly, and around real family life.

As two founders on their fourth business and mothers of young children, Elsie and Dominika have raised funding, navigated growth, built brands people love, and created careers entirely on their own terms. They’ve made the mistakes, learned the lessons, and are coming to share what actually works.

Whether you’re just starting out, side hustling around nap times, or looking to grow your business sustainably, this conversation is for you. 🚀
