OMG…. Ideas Fest, we’re coming back 👀🎤

Last year we were on stage pitching Mums Who Build. This year, we’ve been invited to come back to host our very own workshop — and we’re bringing four brilliant founders with us.

Visibility Builds Businesses: Lessons from Four Founders Building Alongside Motherhood

We’ll be getting into what visibility actually looks like when you’re building a business alongside everything else life throws at you — what’s worked, what they’ve learned, and how putting themselves and their businesses out there has helped them grow.

Joining us:

✨ Francesca — award-winning entrepreneur, executive coach Francesca Hodgson and former co-founder of GoodBox, the fintech behind contactless donation points used by charities across the UK.

✨ Catherine-Ann — founder of Doqit | Life Admin System , the secure document platform inspired by her experience as a SEND parent navigating overwhelming paperwork.

✨ Anisha — founder of Personalised Longlasting Jewellery for Every Day , which she grew into a six-figure jewellery brand alongside a full-time career, and now founder of WE ARE ORGANISED .

✨ Suzanne — founder of YES Virtual Assistance (Your Executive Solution), sharing what nearly a decade of building a successful business has looked like — and how motherhood has reshaped the journey.

📍 The Acorn Stage, Dreamland
🗓️ Wednesday 9 September
⏰ 10.30–11.30am

If you’re heading to Ideas Fest, come and find us. We’d absolutely love to see some familiar faces (and meet lots of new ones) 🧡

Yvonne joined our 28-Day Kickstarter Sprint uncertain, procrastinating on the tasks she knew could change things, uncomfortable with the idea of being visible, and frustrated with the threat of her great business being overlooked.

Here is what she would say to someone thinking about joining now:

“You will gain absolute clarity on what actually moves the dial, learn exactly how to tackle those big tasks, and become much more comfortable putting yourself, your expertise, and your business out there.”

That is 28 days of work. One tiny action at a time, stacked consistently, until showing up feels less like courage and more like habit.

If you are sitting on a pitch you have not sent, a post you have not published, a client you have not followed up with, the Sprint is where that changes.

28 days. 28 actions. Your rage, finally working for you.

Everyone has something to tell you about motherhood.

Sleep more. Rest more. Go back to work. Stay home. Bounce back. Make time for yourself. Put the baby first.

🙃 Make it make sense.

At our latest Big MOB Meet-up Mat Leave Special, Katie O’Malley founder of A Long Way To Go hosted Beyond The Motherhood Myths — an honest conversation about some of the “rules” women are handed when they become mums.

We unpacked three big ones:

→ “You should bounce back within 6 weeks.”
→ “Self-care is the answer to postpartum overwhelm.”
→ “You should want to go back to work.” Or… “You should want to stay home.”

And the biggest takeaway?

There is no one “right” way to do motherhood.

There is no universal recovery timeline.

Self-care can be important, but it can’t solve a lack of support or broken systems — and what you need will change as you move through motherhood.

Going back to work is valid. Staying home is valid. Cutting maternity leave short, taking longer, sharing parental leave or changing direction entirely — valid.

And none of it needs justifying.

Some motherhood advice is false. Some is a half-truth. And some is missing a LOT of context.

Which is exactly why conversations like this matter.

A huge thank you to Katie for stepping forward to host, sharing what she knows and creating space for other mums to talk honestly about what they need. 🤍

Because that’s what our meet-ups are about too: mums sharing their knowledge, growing their confidence and becoming more visible.

So perhaps it’s time to throw the “right” way to do motherhood out the window, ask “what do I actually need?” — and whack some white noise on to drown out the rest of the nonsense. 😌

💬 Which motherhood myth are you most ready to ignore?
