Sometimes in life and business, the best laid out plans may not work out but they could always have a silver lining.
Yesterday I had a great idea in preparation of going to see Lewis Capaldi at the SummerDaze Malta Festival. Rather than having the hassle of trying to try and find a cab to bring us back home in the rush with all the high demand and surge prices for cars, I thought let me go and park the car near the venue in the afternoon.
We all thought it made sense and I found a fantastic place right near the venue in easy walking distance. Later that evening we took a cab to Ta Qali venue and thoroughly enjoyed the event with great support acts of Jamie Cardona and Shaun Farrugia. Then came the main man himself, Lewis Capaldi, who as he put it shared with us his “depressing music” for the next couple of hours. It was not depressing and very entertaining and a great show throughout.

Yes you guessed it, I forgot to bring the car keys!!!! 😬😳🙁
I really could not believe that I had done that and after obviously taking the brunt of my errors from Mari, Megan and Stefan, (they weren’t that bad really), we then had to walk home which was going to be a good 45 minute walk. After 20 minutes we found a cab parked in a lay by on route and €20 later we arrived home.
So the a great plan we all agreed on, didn’t quite work out. Something went wrong but we just found an alternative solution.
The Silver Lining
Yes there was one! Yesterday’ event meant that this morning, I decided to go for a 5k run to go and pick up the car. My problem resulted in me doing some exercise, burn some calories and look after my well-being. Probably not my fastest run, but hey it was already 32 degrees at 9am!!!
The Business Perspective
It’s the same in business, sometimes you have that great idea and with your team you put together the best laid out plans to achieve it and you hit an obstacle. We can’t just give up. We have to find a work around, alternative solutions…...
Success just came in a different way and also helped me achieve something else in life or in business.
