Established in 1911 by air sports pioneer Robert J. Collier, this coveted award has set the standard for recognizing technological excellence in American aviation for over a century. Finalists are selected based on substantial improvements in performance, efficiency, and safety.

"The 2025 finalists embody American ingenuity, continuing the rich tradition of global aerospace innovation that defines the Collier Trophy," said Amy Spowart, President and CEO, National Aeronautic Association. "To be considered for this award is to be recognized among the absolute best in our industry. These teams have taken on incredible challenges—from exploring deep space to redefining autonomy in logistics and combat—and have succeeded in relentlessly expanding the limits of possibility."

Airbus has just announced the appointment of a new .

Carmen-Maja Rex will succeed Thierry Baril, effective April 1, 2025.
In this role, she will serve as a member of the Executive Committee and report to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury.

The new-elected CHRO currently holds the position of Group Chief Human Resources Officer at Heidelberg Materials, a leading global manufacturer of building materials.

Her career began as a consultant at Accenture in 1999, followed by a period with the United Nations starting in 2003.
She later joined Siemens in 2010, holding various leadership roles in Human Resources before assuming her current position at Heidelberg Materials in 2020, overseeing a global workforce of 51,000 employees across more than 50 countries.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Carmen-Maja Rex on this important appointment. Her expertise, knowledge, and dedication will definitely be invaluable assets to the Airbus's global workforce. 👏👏

The issue of mental health in aviation reached a critical turning point in 2024, with government leaders and stakeholders across the industry coming together to address long-standing barriers that have discouraged pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation professionals from seeking necessary care.

As such, the past year has seen a series of updates, initiatives, and other collaborative efforts focused on easing the path for pilots and air traffic controllers in need of help.
