From glittering Bronze Age gold to Viking silver and mysterious hoards of ancient coins, this exciting new exhibition uncovers some of the most remarkable treasures ever discovered. Visitors can explore extraordinary finds from leading national and regional institutions, including the British Museum and Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales.
One of the exhibition’s standout pieces is the breathtaking Mold Cape, on loan from the British Museum. Dating back to the Bronze Age, this spectacular ceremonial gold cape was discovered in North Wales and remains one of the UK’s most celebrated archaeological treasures.
Expertly curated by National Museums Liverpool’s archaeology team, the exhibition brings together archaeology, history and science to reveal the fascinating stories behind these incredible discoveries. Each object offers a glimpse into the past, with its story shared in both English and Welsh.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science is marked each year on February 11. The day shines a spotlight on the importance of women and girls having equal opportunities in science, while celebrating the valuable contributions they make to the field.

Led by UNESCO and UN-Women alongside a range of partner organisations, the day focuses on empowering women and girls in science and technology. Events often include talks, discussions and activities designed to inspire the next generation to get involved.

The Dark Skies Festival is encouraging people to enjoy the magic of the night sky, with a full schedule of events running from February to October.

This year also marks 10 years since the South Downs park became an International Dark Sky Reserve, known as “The Moore’s Reserve” in tribute to the late Sir Patrick Moore, the well-known Sussex astronomer.

The summer solstice, also known as midsummer or the Celtic festival Litha, is one of humanity’s most ancient festivals.

Celebrated since the Stone Age, this special day marks the longest day and shortest night of the year and is the highpoint of the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

For many ancient and pagan traditions, the solstice represents a time of fulfilment and gratitude, a celebration of light, abundance, and warmth.

Stonehenge was built to align with the sun on the solstices. This year summer solstice will be celebrated from 7pm on Friday 20th June to 8am on Saturday 21st June.

Please note - Stonehenge is a significant World Heritage Site and to many it is sacred – if you are planning to attend, please respect the stones and read the Conditions of Entry at English Heritage:
