, originally opened in 1838 as the Horse and Groom, is one of the oldest pubs in Wimbledon. At a time when much of the surrounding land was still open farmland, it served as an early social hub, long before nearby roads like North Road and South Road were established. As the area developed, it remained a constant while other pubs and beer houses gradually appeared. Many have since closed, leaving it as the oldest original watering hole still standing in the area.
Now known as the Garden Shed (you won’t struggle to see why the name fits so perfectly), the pub features a bright green tiled central bar and friendly staff ready to greet any patron. The space has been thoughtfully designed as a cosy haven for plant lovers, filled with greenery and botanical illustrations throughout.

The Queen Charlotte is now part of our London Pub Collection, alongside 80+ fantastic independent pubs across London! 🙌 You can now enjoy £10 off your bill with our Special Beer Mat!

This tiny pub first opened in 1767 as the Northumberland Arms, just 4 years following the creation of Charlotte Street, named after the consort Queen! Proof that the pub has been part of Fitzrovia’s story from the very start, even predating the street’s first appearance on Richard Howrwood’s map in 1799. The brick building we know today, featuring a bottle green façade and large windows at the corner of Goodge Street and Charlotte Street, dates back to 1897. Taken over by BrewDog in 2018, it was with great joy that we learned it returned to independent hands in 2025. The new team has added care and charm, including hand-crafted hanging sign boards by an artisan, gleaming with a gold leaf finish. Inside, you’ll feel the love poured into the place: a single ornate bar, wooden floors, and a team ready to greet every patron with a smile.
