How do you provide feedback to your clientele?

I use a couple of features when providing feedback on assessments on my short courses.
I use Padlet - https://padlet.com for students to upload their homework or ideas that they would like feedback on and it is a great way for students to share their ideas with one another.

I can review their homework and offer comments and feedback by way of using Loom which is a free video tool where you can record and share video messages of your screen, cam, or both.

What tips do you have for offering feedback and what tools do you use?

Creating a professional and polished video is easier than you think! ๐Ÿ“น

Video can be an effective way of engaging your audience and conveying your message. You don't need fancy equipment!

๐ŸŽฅ Lighting is everything! If possible, sit facing a window for some fantastic natural lighting!
๐ŸŽฅ Use a clean and tidy background! Try not to sit with a window behind you.
๐ŸŽฅ Get clean, crisp audio by using an inexpensive microphone
๐ŸŽฅ Use a tripod to keep footage steady
๐ŸŽฅ Use your phone the right way! Always remember to use landscape and not portrait!
๐ŸŽฅ Plan your videos in advance. While it's best not to read off a script, preparing a rough outline of your video will help make sure you stay on track.

How do we learn?

For anyone creating an online course, it's incredibly important to understand the 6 different stages of learning. Not only will this help you understand your students but it will help guide you to structuring your course and providing useful resources and activities to reinforce learning.

๐Ÿค“ Remembering: Student should be able to recall or retrieve previous learned information.
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Ask students to collate digital material relevant to a particular topic.

๐Ÿค“ Understanding: Students should be able to understand and explain a concept or problem in their own words
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Create a reflective activity for students to showcase their knowledge.

๐Ÿค“ Applying: Students should be able to remember key concepts and apply them to real-life situations.
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Create a quiz!

๐Ÿค“ Analysing: Break down information into smaller chunks so allow students to evaluate and contrast concepts and provide evidence to support their conclusions.
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Create a group exercise and ask students to solve a problem and come to a collective decision.

๐Ÿค“ Evaluating: At this stage students should be able to make their own judgments about the value of ideas or materials.
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Ask students to design a test to solve a problem.

๐Ÿค“ Creating: Students should now be able to apply their learning to create new resources and teach others.
๐Ÿ“š How to help: Ask students to create a video on a topic of their choice!

Is your sales page high-converting?

You might have created the most amazing course ever but unless your sales page grabs your audience's attention, no one will ever know.

When you're creating copy for your sales page, here are a few things to ask yourself:

1๏ธโƒฃ Who is this course for? *Are you being clear and specific enough*
2๏ธโƒฃ How does your course help your student? *what are they going to accomplish?*
3๏ธโƒฃ Why should the student want to accomplish the final result of your course? *what's in it for them?*

If you're interested in learning how to write a high-converting sales page, join my mailing list for details on my upcoming How To Teach Online retreat!

'I'm not good enough'
'I'm not and expert'
'I don't know what I'm doing'

Sound familiar? Here's your daily reminder that you're doing a great job!

It's really difficult to admit but, just like so many other business owners, I sometimes find myself questioning my ability or feeling like I might be a bit out of my depth. While it's something that I've got better at handling, I think that it's important to always put things into perspective.

Instead of 'being out of my depth', I have reframed this to think that 'I'm pushing myself outside of my comfort zone'. And growth isn't a bad thing, eh?

'Everything's opening up, why would you create an online course?'

Someone recently asked me why I was still focussing on helping clients outside of academia (aka business owners) develop online courses now that the world seems to be getting back to 'normal'.

Aside from the obvious ability to generate some additional income and leads for your business, an online course is a great way to:

๐Ÿ’ซ Show your expertise: especially if you find yourself working though the same processes or regularly providing the same advice and guidance.
๐Ÿ’ซ It's a great way to let people get to know you: students can work at their own pace and get to know you over time.
๐Ÿ’ซ It's a great way to upsell: an online course is a natural stepping stone for current customers to buy into your more premium or bespoke services.

Have you ever thought about creating an online course?

And just like that we're into August!

I've had my head down finishing off some incredible projects over the last few months, as well as completing an additional Masters! But finally...I feel like I can come up for air โ˜บ๏ธโ˜บ๏ธโ˜บ๏ธ

I'm so excited to share that I'm currently developing a Fashion Entrepreneurship course for The United Nations - International Trade Centre.

The course is being developed for students across a number of African countries and with the aim to encourage and develop entrepreneurs within the fashion industry.

This is a major pinch me moment, but I am super grateful to be able to work alongside experts in the field as well as some incredibly creative students who remind me why I do what I do.

How's your August going? What have you been up to?

What makes you different from your competition? ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

With entrepreneurship on the rise, it's important to ask yourself 'what makes me different from everyone else?' It seems like a simple enough question but it can be quite difficult to answer!

So here's my three:

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ I've spent over 25 years working in a number of creative industries ๐Ÿงต๐ŸŽญ ๐Ÿ’ปโฃ
๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ I don't just talk the take, I walk the walk - I've worked with some incredible organisations such as The United Nations, The World Trade Organisation and The London College of Fashion
๐Ÿ’๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ Most importantly,...I've worked with TONNES of incredible students!

Tell me three things which make you different from your competition! Comment below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฟ

Do you have a signature process? ๐Ÿ’ซ

We all have our USPs but do you have a signature process that you follow with all your customers and clients?

I had to take a moment to think about this (because it's become second nature) but I'm glad to say I DO! Although I've worked with clients in lots of different industries, geographies and cultures, the first place I always start is with the 'why'.

Not only is it important for me to see the project through the clients eyes, but understanding your why can help guide all of the other decisions you are making.

If you have a signature process, where do you start? Comment below๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฟ

What's been your biggest fear in your professional life? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

For me...it was writing a book. There was a lot of pressure to get it finished and I had no idea of how to write a book but the process taught me how to plan and keep the end goal in mind. Admittedly I had some assistance and I am grateful to those that guided me but it was nerve racking as heck as it was published by The British Fashion Council. I am proud of my achievement as it has helped solidify many opportunities - I didn't make any financial gains from the book but I received in kind contributions by turning the book into an online course Fashion Manufacturing online. Proud moment seeing a well used copy in my alumni college library ,Central Saint Martins.
