An hour spent with Dave Cornthwaite would be an hour well spent. This Saturday at 10am (BST) he’s going to be talking about his first incredible record breaking journey then every subsequent Saturday he’s going to talk about another adventure.
Come and be inspired! Inspire your smaller adventurers be they Moana’s or Iron Man.
Plus he’s ginger. Gotta love the gingers ....;-)

It has been over thirteen years since I skated into Brisbane, Australia, to finish a record-breaking 3618 mile, five month journey from Perth.
While this is just something I did once upon a time, I still find it a mixture of sad and funny that all the effort and experience is now reduced to a line or two: “I once longboarded across Australia” or “Yeah, I once broke a world record for skating further than anyone else in history, the year after I first stepped onto a skateboard.”
And then it’s “oh cool, did you watch Love Island last night?”
Sometimes I wish people would care more, or at least ask about it in a different way. I totally get why they don’t, life continues on and what I did isn’t important to anyone else, but the worst thing is that I’ve started to forget the details.
Adventures convert into memories and along with the friendships found along the way, that’s all we have left.
When I cooked up that weird idea to try and skate a world record distance I hoped that the journey would show me where to go next, who I was meant to be and what I was able to go and do. Although the resulting answers were more of a feeling than a direct instruction, I'm grateful for whatever magic the universe conjured up that let me have that idea and run (or skate) with it.
That skate across Australia turned out to be just the first journey of Expedition1000, a lifetime mission to take on twenty five different non motorised journeys over 1000 miles, and so far I’ve skated, paddled and pedalled past the 1000 mile mark fifteen different times.
It seems like a good time to start remembering the little memories that have faded, and I’d like to invite you and your kids (or friends) to join me this Saturday at 10am BST for a family friendly story and Q&A about skating across Australia.
The following week I'll do the same, for Kayaking the 2500km Murray River, the next week riding a Tandem from Vancouver to Vegas, and on and on..
Whether you’re a parent who wants to instil a sense of adventure in the little ones, or an older kid who refuses to grow up (like me) then I really hope you can join me. Come armed with good questions, this'll be an interactive Q&A as much as possible :)
