Why do you do what you do?
There are many reasons why people do what they do. It would be naive to say that money isn’t the most influential factor, because it sounds much more romantic to think everyone loves what they do all the time.
But as someone who has run their own business in the past it can become very apparent that the things we set out to do, actually come with a whole lot of OTHER things as well. Like for example, emails, oh my god I did not realise how many emails you would get. And just when you’ve whittled down your inbox to a sensible number, your computer is somehow out of storage space, because there are files everywhere ( I did a lot of work with Photoshop and InDesign and I’d be lying if i said that half of them were labelled, ‘final’, ‘FINAL’, ‘FINAL1’, ‘NoReallyTheFinal’)
Even when you choose to do the things you want to do, not everything is smooth sailing. I know for sure that I would have had a lot more success if I had someone there to support the admin and organisational side of things. There is always going to be THAT side of any business.
And so we arrive at the present, and I’m so excited to be getting to do what I do, which is essentially all the things that the younger me needed but never had. VA x EA is here because we want to help empower others to do more of what they love and get the support they need in the areas they need it.
Support isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s the bridge between failing and succeeding.
