Changes to Eligibility for DBS checks.

Changes to the DBS eligibility.
On the 1st September the DBS changed the eligibility for and enhances DBS check with the barred lists for those who worked ‘under supervision’ of a person who is already DBS’d.

If you TEACH TRAIN SUPERVISE CARE FOR or INSTRUCT children for more than 3 days in a month then you need a DBS check with the barred list. This applies even if the parents are present and you are fulfilling the functions above. So a Mums and toddlers group - if you are involved in teaching,supervising,instructing, caring for or training - you are in Regulated Activity and need a DBS check.

📍Preparing to recruit
📍Shortlisting and interviews
📍DBS vetting and barring checks
📍Dealing with concerns identified through vetting and barring and then assessing risk
📍managing allegations of inappropriate behaviour by staff or volunteers
📍identifying risks (signs and indicators of perpetrator behaviours.)
