THEOs keeping pavements clear and accessible 🛣️
After spotting a car parked on a footpath, an obstruction that forced pedestrians into the road, our Enforcement Officers acted quickly.
Checks were carried out, and the registered keeper was issued a notice. They failed to provide the necessary details and were prosecuted, resulting in a court fine.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dabirul Islam Choudhury OBE at the age of 106.

Dabirul Choudhury was an extraordinary individual whose life embodied faith, resilience, and service. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he inspired the world by walking 970 laps in his garden while fasting during Ramadan, raising over £420,000 for charitable causes. His efforts supported the NHS and helped vulnerable communities across the globe.
In recognition of his remarkable contribution, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. His quiet determination showed that age is never a barrier to doing good and that sincere intentions can unite hearts worldwide.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Over the past few weeks, the usual dog whistle posts and personal attacks have begun to surface as we approach the elections in May.

This is not the way that I want to contest an election. It is not the way that I want to engage my opponents.

I pride myself and my party on our record, and what we are currently delivering for the people of Tower Hamlets - the people who matter most.

Residents deserve the truth and a politics that puts policy and vision above all. At a time where democracy here and abroad is facing serious challenges, we must all play our part in upholding the high standards residents rightly expect of the people who ask for their support in an election.

I therefore implore councillors and candidates and their supporters of all political parties to put their vision and offer for Tower Hamlets above all.

Residents want to hear what you stand for, not who you stand against.

Please be civil, be courteous, and keep dignity and respect at the heart of our politics.
