This is a great opportunity to get out of the house/ office and meet other human beings in person.

I discovered this mezzanine lounge bar with a few friends. It is cosy and relaxed, set in a gorgeous hotel near Holborn tube station. The space can't be booked so I'll go along a little earlier on (so if you can, come a little earlier too) in order to reserve the space for us later.

ACCEPT PEOPLE AS THEY ARE BUT PLACE THEM WHERE THEY BELONG!!

An elderly woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the
woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter
failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?' 'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.' For two years I have been able to
pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

Today I did a family analysis - always stunned by the connections that show up in our fingerprints between family members, how themes playout.

One of the themes today was the feeling of POWERLESSNESS.

When we feel powerless, we feel like we can't affect a situation, we can't change circumstances. We feel helpless or trapped or overwhelmed. We struggle to see how we can create what we want, if we even know what we want.

This life lesson causes us to struggle to know what we truly want, to struggle to come up with a vision we can fully believe in. We struggle with self belief. We doubt ourselves and our abilities.

Our neural pathways are designed to assume we are powerless, so our automatic behaviour in response to situations is based on feeling powerless. Our childhoods often involve exposure to negative expressions of power so we feel that power is bad.

Those with the powerless life lesson are often quite powerful in their own way but don't know how to use that power effectively, making mistakes when they try to use it, confirming their belief that power is "bad" in some way.

Of course, there's lots more to this lesson and the inherent gift in it, but the first thing to do is understand we are not powerless, it's just a habitual way of thinking...
