With less than two weeks to go until Learning Technologies, we are delighted to announce that we will be returning for our third year to exhibit alongside our partners . Learning Technologies is the principal European showcase of organisational learning and the technology used to support it and will be taking place at ExCel London from 3rd- 4th May.

With more than 200 exhibitors and 9,000 attendees, it promises to be a dynamic and engaging couple of days. We also have three exciting events planned: a session on how to build a Deliberately Developing Organisation (DDO) and a Moodle Workplace Demo, on 3rd May; and a demo of the brand new BusinessBalls Enterprise subscription on the 4th. To conclude our series focused on National Apprenticeship Week, we have asked Graham McMullan, our Head of Apprenticeships, to share some insight into the week.

“This year, National Apprenticeship Week has focused on celebrating the that our apprentices have gained during their apprenticeship courses.

Throughout the week, I have spent time talking to our apprentices and wonderful employers, hearing inspirational stories about how our apprentices’ learning has developed not only themselves, but the wider teams and individuals that they manage.

Through Accipio’s C30 Framework, our apprentices were able to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to be effective leaders and managers. They noted how they were able to: recognise their own emotions and how they are perceived by others; communicate better and more clearly with their teams; and communicate more effectively ‘up the chain,’ to more senior leaders, to be able to manage large and complex projects more effectively.

What’s more, Accipio’s leadership apprenticeships at Levels 5 and 7 include full Chartered Manager status as part of the End Point Assessment process, which is a marvellous benefit and accolade for every manager. It is the pinnacle of leadership and management, and the CMI is the only institute in the world that can award it through Royal Charters.

National Apprenticeship week saw our current in-year Distinction rate stay at 100%: every single one of our apprenticeship completers has received a Distinction at their End Point Assessment, with a 100% qualification pass rate for 4 years in a row.

Over 95% of our students said they gained new knowledge, skills and behaviours that helped them in their work and personal lives, with 87% saying that they would recommend us to friends, family and colleagues. Roughly 54% of our apprentices are promoted during their apprenticeship and 100% of apprentices who have completed their programme said that they have met the goals and objectives they set out to achieve at the start of their programme.

Overall, National Apprenticeship Week 2023 was a raging success, and I am excited to hear and share more in the coming weeks and months ahead.

For the final part of our series celebrating the achievements of our apprentices, the would like to draw on the experiences of Kathryn Pitcher, the Project lead for Continuing Professional Development at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

“I sat the End-point assessment at the earliest opportunity (November 2022) and was the very first person to sit it from my organisation; I am overjoyed to say that I received a Distinction.

It has been an amazing experience where I have been able to implement both updated and new skills straight away into my daily routine. This has had a positive reception from my team members too; they like to be included in the problem solving. They have come up with some very creative solutions, as well as a better understanding of some of the issues the team face. This has enabled change to be embraced more positively.

My confidence has definitely improved; my temporary promotion (2 grades above where I was at the beginning of my course) has also now become permanent. If you have the opportunity to take the Management apprenticeship, I would. It has helped my career, my team, my organisation and my confidence in ways I did not and could not have foreseen.

I could not have achieved this without the support of team, managers and the never-ending patience and guidance of my coach, Wendy Hall from Accipio. I am truly grateful, thank you.”

Next in our series celebrating our amazing apprentices, and the that they've gained, is Level 3 Apprentice Beth Sadler, Tearfund’s Community Fundraising Manager.

“I really enjoyed completing my Level 3 Apprenticeship, especially the sessions where there were opportunities to meet people from different organisations. This helped to discuss the topics from a range of perspectives and show how the aspect we were learning about could be applied into different settings. I think that the apprenticeship has made me a better manager, teaching me techniques and theories that can easily be applied to my day-to-day job.

The work-based project helped me to reflect in more depth about a particular project, but the process of reflection helped to also improve the quality of the project too. I found the 1:1 coaching sessions every month to be particularly useful, providing a chance to discuss the content and tasks in more depth.

I would thoroughly recommend the apprenticeship to anyone who is looking to gain more knowledge of managing and leading people, with practical advice and activities that can be applied to your work setting”
