Our prep for at Notting Hill Carnival 2025 is well underway!

We are celebrating our 10th year working with the mighty Rampage, the largest static sound system.

Meetings at the lovely Tabernacle in the Portebello area of West London, the heart of Notting Hill Carnival.

"Lynette and Carl are the artists behind the magnificent wire sculptures and costumes, some of which may be found around both The Tabernacle and The Yaa Centre sites of Carnival Village, where they have been based for some time; other pieces have been played and displayed up and down the country, and elsewhere. After Carl finished bending the wire, Lyn would decorate the piece, bringing it to life with colours and textures, often using recycled and natural materials" -

A change of topic from carnival to funfairs!

We met the legendery George Irvin who owns and runs the famous George Irvin's Fun Fair last week.

The rich history they have spans just over 160 years. To speak with such an experienced and respected businesses man in the events industry was an honour.

He shared stories, a business model of how they keep it a family run business. More importantantly, how they teach their teenagers to manage money from a young age, giving them certain responsibilities. They also understand that the fair is not for all of their kids, and they let them find their own way. Some kids are practical and some are academic, but there's room for all of the family!

From winter wonderland in Hyde Park to religious festivals, they are everywhere! They also offer their sites up for filming and work on shows abroad!

We were in awe and honoured that George shared his wisdom with us. Thank you George!

Now to wait and see what we are up to with them!

Sometimes we just have to have direct contact with the supplier's individual staff to get the logistics organised and for a smoother run.

DAY 1 - The build
This was our second year out of 9, working with .co.uk

We've worked with 3 event production companies in our 9 years. The first year of working with a new team is always tricky, especially at carnival.

In 2023, we contracted MRL production and it was good...But not great. They took on board ALL our feedback and their was a marked improvement in their delivery. It was GREAT!

The truss stage was solid with extra safety precautions, The sound of line array was arranged so well, The sound shooted down the road, stopping about 6 metres in front of The flats. We could go on and on about the technical greatness!

We passed the Temporary/Special license Section 30 from (as always)but we will look to see if there is anything else we may need to improve on.

Lastly, this is the first production company where we have witnessed having them having a number of staff from African Caribbean heritage. Diversity in the events sector needs a huge boost to increase the numbers and opportunities available to those from black, asian and other ethnic minority groups. Well done and thank you to MRL Productions!

Day 1 - We organised the logistics for the delivery of the bar at (around the corner).

Having clear, regular communication with who own the container during the week was very important.

Sending them details of the entry point to the carnival footprint and the exact location to unload the container bar.

Timing was crystal too, the bar came on a Hiab (truck), we had to ensure it didn't clash with the hiab delivering the pit barrier, bearing in mind we are on residential streets of London!

Danny the Hiab driver was great, and his skill unloading the container to the exact spot, just in front of the curb, was exceptional!

Day 1 - the people behind ar Nottinghill carnival!

When the delivery of stock and banners suddenly fell on us, stepped in without any hesitation. They thought of the logistics and followed through as planned. Theyre so patient, enthusiastic, hardworking and friendly.

Without them, this year would have been a disaster.

Thank you so much for saving us on Friday, Saturday and at the crack of down on Sunday and Monday.

Day 1 set up

The pit barrier crew are awesome.

The pit barriers protect the resident's homes from the thousands of revellers that are on the Rampage road, and of course, create a backstage and egress for us.

This year, the barrier set up was the best in our whole 8 years, 110 metres of pit barrier, 10 gates 3 corners and sand bags where them corners may stick up.

Thanks crew! Till next year!

The graffers come out as soon as the boards are fixed up to protect homes in Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill Carnival.

These artists, yes they are artists, are passionate about their work and we find it brings life to the bland boards. Art is therapy!

These pics were taken from Thursday till today, Saturday and we will see fresh art tomorrow morning!

We only want to encourage them to stick to the boards and not graffiti the resident's homes! Be responsible!

We even heard a police officer complimenting a graffiti artist!

The costumes of carnival are definitely uplifting!

take care of The largest sound system; logistics, staff, volunteers, Residents, planning, security, hospitality which may not be them series if work but definitely integral, we love being in West London for our meeting as we get to witness all them pre carnival hustle and bustle!
