Joanne Truby Floral Design Creative Healer - using flowers and nature for wisdom and guidance. Soul led workshops that deepen your connection with flowers and enhance creative flow

Nestled in Bromley Kent on the borders of South East London we cover Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and central London and are also happy to travel further afield. What Joanne Truby Floral Design does is bespoke, innovative and personal to you. This has led us on all sorts of interesting adventures! From collecting sea shells on the beach,
trailing antique shops looking for the perfect vintage brooch

to spraying leaves gold! To include all those personal details to your designs and I personally visit New Covent Garden flower market as they have the highest quality and largest choice of flowers available. As well as using British grown flowers from our trusted supplier based in Cornwall. We're are also always on the hunt for wonderful containers and props (looking for treasure as I call it) so all our designs that we create are one off. Joanne Truby Floral Design constantly strive to create designs that are unique our most recent examples of this being our floral chandelier and frame. How we work…. We have an initial consultation (however this to me sounds rather formal so I would prefer to say a chat over a cup of tea) with all of our couples and clients. We get to know you, your likes, interests and the type of wedding day you envisage. As well we visit your venue to get a real feel for the surroundings and the inspirational ideas flowing. From our meeting we then start creating your flower designs (as you may have guessed we LOVE doing this). We put together your online Pinterest mood board which we send you along with your detailed brief that captures the feel and style you would like to create and your quote. Other personal touches we do also include adding name labels to all our bouquets and button holes as well as ribboning all our buttonholes (I don’t like seeing the ugly green tape on your lovely jackets!)

Please do get in touch if you would like to have a chat about your flowers, we would love to talk pretty petals with you. Joanne xx

With it being the last day in December I wanted to share this design inspired by the birth flower for this month, the delicate and freshly scented Paperwhite Narcissus.

The Paperwhite carries a number of meanings and symbolism including;

- Hope, purity, new beginnings, and inner reflection,

The Paperwhite also signify renewal and vitality, perfectly fitting for December and the promise of the coming year. Do you like Paperwhites? Let me know in the comments below 👇

This was a bespoke wreath order that left the studio last week. I’m a sucker for browns and oranges together!

Did you know that the wreath was originally used as a symbol to celebrate the winter solstice and the promise of lighter brighter days ahead? The evergreen foliages we tend to use on wreaths stay looking vibrant all year round and carry a meaning of resilience and hope reminding us that life and nature persist even in the coldest and darkest of months.

We can gain so much wisdom and guidance from flowers, plants and nature and the wreath can certainly be a source of inspiration that brings comfort and reassurance during the cold dark months.

The Birth Flower for November: The Chrysanthemum

I think they can get a bit of a bad rap but they are such a beautiful, long lasting, versatile flower. They symbolise loyalty, friendship, and joy. However each colour conveys a specific meaning.

Did you know the original colour of the chrysanthemum was golden, but through cultivation, the flower now comes in a range of different shades and is also a member of the Daisy family.

Do you like Chrysanthemums? What is your favourite variety? Share it with me in the comments below 👇

Well this has been the longest I have ever gone without posting on instagram! September was a pretty busy month for me but I also got stuck in a bit of a rut with posting for the sake of posting and in all honesty it became a bit exhausting! So I decided I only want to post when I feel called and when I have the words and message to accompany my visuals that I feel have real gumption and add of value. You know what, it has felt so freeing! Getting rid of feeling like you constantly have to post out of fear that your engagement will drop etc. Well no more!

I have been feeling that seasonal shift this past week with the slight chill in the air and reaching for my cardigan as I run out the door to do the school run. I had been resisting Autumn approaching which seems strange as it is in fact one of my favourite seasons. I think I just wasn’t ready for summer to be over. However with the start of October today I feel myself feeling more ready and excited for all this beautiful season has to offer.

This tablescape design created during my 1:1 class with was very much inspired by autumn. I love how this came together on the door, no overthinking just working intuitively with the beautiful ingredients we had, placing them where it felt most natural and letting the design come together organically. Sometimes this is the best way to work in my opinion as too much over thinking can stifle your creativity.

Anyways, how have you been? What is new with you? Let me know in the comments below 👇

I wanted to share this design again as I love it so much. I felt so creative and inspired when I created this. I truly let myself be immersed in the flowers and didn’t overthink about the arrangement and where it was going. I just worked intuitively as if the flowers were the ones telling me where they would feel happiest placed. I want to invite more of this free thinking intuition into my work as it is so freeing.

I have also discovered a new found love of sloe berries, and hoping to experiment more with them. What do you think of them?
