To all intents and purposes, Daisy is a regular teenage girl. The only difference being, that in December 2016, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer.
Daisy is the daughter of Rushes Head of Production Jules Pye. Over the course of Daisy’s treatment this year, instead of focusing on pending chemotherapy and radiotherapy results, Daisy wanted to do something positive. Having struggled herself to find relatable material online, Daisy was keen to raise awareness of cancer for early teens.
Rushes Creative Producers Lee Bryan and Carlene Marshall-King picked up the mantel and started working with Daisy on the idea of creating a film. They set out to create a script that reflected her hopes and ambitions in life, why they were currently being held up, and to reaffirm that cancer won’t stop her from succeeding in her dreams, that film is called Twelve, Daisy’s age at the time of diagnosis.
We hope that the film will raise awareness and give strength to others who find themselves in a similar position.
Daisy would like to raise money for both CLIC Sargent, whose specialist care teams do an incredible job supporting young people with cancer, and for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
