Enjoyed visiting the Houses of Parliament with the National Association of Women in Construction (nawicu__), for an event to celebrate 10 years since the first statue of a woman was erected in Parliament Square.
The statue is of Millicent Fawcett - a powerful Suffragette leader (not the inventor of American taps) - after whom the Fawcett Society is named.
As I was there representing women architects, I thought I should dress appropriately - high vis might have been confusing, so I took DM site boots (they don't show in this photo, but I know they were there).
There ought to be a heck of lot more site boots at Westminster, with all the refurbishment work they desperately need! Since my other half (and therefore half our office) is Dutch - I ask myself,
"What would the Dutch do?"
I reckon they would build a wonderful new parliament (maybe up north, to redress the power balance a little) and make the old Parliament into a wonderful museum.
