Global CEO pay rose more than 10.5% in 2025, compared with an estimated 0.5% for the average worker, with equity awards still the largest component. Nigeria moved in the same direction: the ten highest-paid CEOs on the NGX earned N30.04bn combined, up 42% from N21.17bn in 2024.
Seplat Energy's Roger Brown led at N6.64bn. Returns varied widely, from 202.8% ROE at MTN Nigeria to -36.1% at Oando. The top ten female CEOs earned N4.18bn, with Zenith Bank's Adaora Umeoji accounting for about 77%. Excluding her, median female pay was N110.0m, compared with N2.45bn for male CEOs.
